JOB SUMMARY:

Under minimal supervision, this position ensures that all Criminal Justice Advanced/Specialized and Equivalency of Training (EOT) Training courses are conducted in accordance with both FDLE and College policies; responsibilities include: managing day-to-day operations, supporting instructors, facilitators and students, and ensuring compliance with institutional policies and procedures; Preparing Advanced/Specialized and EOT Training course schedules, instructor assignments, advising students with FDLE courses and scheduling facilities, engaging in short and long-term planning, determining instructional materials and supplies revising curriculum as mandated changes occur. Support retention resources and other indicators of progress to assist students and faculty toward course and degree/certificate completion goals. Work closely with leadership to enhance the educational experience and promote a positive learning environment.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategically plan, analyze, and execute all Advanced/Specialized and EOT Training courses, ensuring seamless scheduling and coordination. Ensure all activities align with the IRSC's goals and standards.

  • Counsel, mentor, evaluate and provide guidance and support to students to enhance their academic and personal growth and development.

  • Analyze requirements and recommend books and supplies for all Advanced/Specialized and EOT courses, ensuring full compliance with FDLE regulations.

  • Proactively recruit, assess, and recommend highly qualified part-time instructors, using independent judgement to evaluate their performance and contribution to the training program.

  • Collaboratively oversee and enforce disciplinary actions in partnership with the training center director and dean, while using analytical skills and independent judgement to offer tailored support to individuals facing academic challenges.

  • Analyze training needs and deliver engaging instruction for the Basic Recruit Academy as needed, contributing to the development of future law enforcement professionals.

  • Sustain active involvement and evaluate opportunities within local and state professional organizations to enhance professional development and networking opportunities.

  • Analyze and manage grant budgets, ensuring meticulous tracking of expenditures and strict adherence to grant guidelines and compliance using independent judgement.

  • Evaluate and develop documentation for Advanced and Specialized courses within the Automated Training Management System, ensuring they reflect current standards and trends.

  • Systematically prepare and maintain thorough documentation for Advanced and Specialized coursework to ensure full readiness for FDLE audits.

  • In conjunction with the dean, oversee the development and management of the Trust Fund budget, including analyzing requisitions, evaluating expenditures, and managing contracts to ensure fiscal responsibility and transparency.

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with law enforcement and corrections agencies, using independent judgement to serve as a liaison to training officers in Region XI.

  • Lead the coordination and execution of graduation ceremonies for all Law Enforcement and Correction Basic Recruit classes, analyzing event logistics to create meaningful and memorable events.

  • Performs all additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field from a regionally accredited institution; master's degree preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all Law Enforcement students, including compliance with relevant safety protocols and safety standards.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of recent criminal justice experience.

  • Proven working knowledge of the following: FDLE rules and regulations, Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission policies and procedures with emphasis on criminal justice education and officer/instructor certification standards.

  • Effective public speaker with excellent communication skills - both verbal and written.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.

  • Sound judgment.

  • Excellent problem-solving and positive motivational skills.

  • Proven experience with Microsoft Office and Windows applications.

  • Valid Florida driver's license.

  • Florida General Instructor Certification - a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.

To perform this job successfully, the employee must possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently. Additionally, all employees of the College are expected to maintain professional standards of communication, able to learn and apply new technology, and abide by all policies and procedures. Continued employment remains on an "at-will" basis.
