ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Month, Quarter and Year End Close
* Maintains assigned general ledger accounts, prepares journal entries and prepares account reconciliations and summary schedules and ensures compliance with US GAAP and corporate accounting policies
* Processes and reviews data utilized to generate the monthly general ledger, including subsidiary ledgers, records, and reports
* Assigned accounts include but are not limited to: memorandum and balancing accounts of the regulated utilities, revenues, etc.
* Maintains leases in Lease Query and ensures compliance with ASC 842 lease accounting, including journal entries and reconciliations
* Performs financial analysis and reconciliation on various general ledger accounts on a monthly and quarterly basis
* Involved in all aspects of close and reporting functions, from preparation of journal entries to providing support of financial statements and SEC reporting

Audit and SOX Compliance
* Develops analyses and prepares schedules for the company's annual audit, quarterly reviews and other requests as needed
* Interacts with both internal and external auditors and provides support and responses to inquiries
* Monitors and continuously improves/standardizes processes and controls; ensures adherence to policies designed to maintain SOX compliance
* Assists in the development, documentation and implementation of internal controls

Regulatory Filings and Reporting
* Prepares and files annual franchise fee reports, quarterly fees for CEC and CPUC, and escheatment reports (unclaimed property) for various states
* Prepares the monthly utility taxes report for cities
* Assists in preparing quarterly and annual FERC reports

Other Responsibilities
* Assists in providing data requests and analysis for regulatory and tax reporting
* Maintains or reviews the address book setup function in JDE
* Coordinates with the Billing Support Team (Customer Service Center) to conduct system billing rate checks as needed
* Collaborates with various departments within the organization as needed to support assigned responsibilities
* Identifies and recommends process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and accuracy of processes and standard operating procedures
* Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor, including assistance with special projects and other ad hoc reporting requests

Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related discipline
* Five years of progressively responsible accounting experience in water/utility industry preferred
* Proficient with computerized office equipment, including demonstrated knowledge of advanced spreadsheet functions (Excel)
* Experience with JD Edwards software or major ERP is a plus
* Good communication (both oral and written) and analytical skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills; strong collaboration skills
* Proficient in Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Access Database a plus
* Ability to research, interpret and compile analytical data.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

The compensation range provided is in compliance with state specific laws. Multiple factors are used to determine the actual starting rate of pay for all of our positions, including specific skills, years of experience, education, certification(s), and other job related factors.
