Loras College seeks an experienced and dynamic leader to serve as Provost. The position is the institution's chief academic officer responsible for vision, leadership, oversight, and planning related to all academic programs and academic affairs personnel. As an administrative cabinet member, the Provost provides expertise for the overall development, implementation, and assessment of college-wide strategic initiatives. The Associate Provost and the Deans of the College's three schools (Humanities and Education; Science and Health; and Business, Engineering, and Innovation) report directly to the Provost, as do the Directors of the Library, Institutional Research, and Center for Experiential Learning.

Founded in 1839, Loras College's scenic campus is nestled high atop the bluffs of the Mississippi River in Dubuque, Iowa. We are a Catholic liberal arts institution that includes pre-professional and career preparation programs, as well as several graduate programs. Relating the rich liberal arts tradition to a changing world, our mission is to develop active learners, reflective thinkers, ethical decision makers, and responsible contributors in their diverse professional, social, and religious roles. As an archdiocesan college, Loras College is attentive to the educational needs and collaborative opportunities within our geographic region and cultivates understanding of diverse experiences, cultures, and worldviews by upholding the human dignity of all people. The Loras College community embraces the core values of truth, respect, responsibility, excellence, and service that define the way we work, behave, and relate with others. As such, our campus culture is marked by collegiality and collaboration.

With an institutional commitment to vocation, experiential learning, and strong academic and social support for students, Loras successfully provides a vibrant student-centric learning community focused on student retention and flourishing. This includes a general education curriculum centered on developing students' understanding of purpose, or calling, as members of diverse communities; programmatic resources for first-generation students and students with ability differences; civic and religious leadership initiatives; and a May term with opportunities to study abroad or away from campus. Through its annual Legacy Symposium, Loras recognizes and celebrates the academic and service achievements of its students, faculty and staff. The student body consists of approximately 1,300 students, over 90 percent of whom are full-time undergraduates.

Candidates should have an earned doctorate or professional degree, preferably within the context of the liberal arts tradition; evidence of achievement in teaching, scholarship, service, and leadership; proven administrative effectiveness, including with institutional and specialized accreditation processes; a record of ethical, data-driven evaluations of academic programs and initiatives; demonstrated commitment to faculty and staff recruitment, retention, and professional development; and innovation in the identification and implementation of academic programs, including both undergraduate and graduate programs. Preferred candidates will demonstrate personal and professional commitment to promoting the Catholic Intellectual Tradition including Ex Corde Ecclesiae and Catholic social teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to actively support and strengthen the mission and vision of the College as a Catholic liberal arts institution, and to work collaboratively with faculty and staff to steward the institution in the present and to shape the institution's future.

The target starting date is June 2025. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Candidates should provide a letter of application summarizing their qualifications, a curriculum vitae, and complete contact information for at least three professional references.
