Description

Job Responsibilities:

* Perform duties as Hazardous Waste worker in all actions pertaining to hazardous waste dealing with the generation of waste storage, transport, and disposal, to include the process of paperwork and filing to ensure "cradle to grave tracking" in each division.

* Perform duties as Hazardous Material worker in all actions pertaining to hazardous material control including requisition approval, proper labeling, storage, and "cradle to grave tracking" (CRIMP) and shelf life inspection in each division.

* Responsible for providing, updating, and maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in designated work areas.

* Assist the EH&S Manager with all actions pertaining to general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the OSHA, contract, facilities, Company manual and job assignment. Specific programs that are managed include, but are not limited to: Respiratory Protection, Confined Space, Hazardous Communication, Specific Risk Chemicals, Electrical Safety and Lock out-Tag Out.

* Assist EH&S Manager in site environmental programs to include, but are not limited to, Environmental Management System (EMS), Storm Water Pollution Prevention, Hazardous Waste Management, Air Emissions, Wastewater Pollution Prevention and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC).

* Assist EH&S Manager to resolve any potential or actual Safety, Environmental compliance, HAZMAT or HAZWASTE related problems.

* Responsible for requisition/ordering Hazardous Materials for the site via NAVSUP HMC&M Tool (website) in addition to sending Haz Mat order information to CNATRA Det.

* Responsible for notification/requests to NASCC HAZMINCEN for updated Haz Mat shelf life labels.

* Requirement to pick up Haz Mat orders at the HAZMINCEN.

* Requirement to complete requests for additional Haz Mat to our AUL (Authorized User List) by providing required information via NAVSUP HMC&M Tool (website) and up-loading a product Safety Data Sheet.

* Requirement to report used/disposed Hazardous Materials to NAVSUP via entering container/product information in HMC&M Tool (NAVSUP website).

* Responsible for researching, acquiring and replacing/updating Safety Data Sheets for hazardous materials on site. (change of manufacturer or updated product).

* Responsible for Inspection and Inventory of Hazardous Material Lockers and Hangar Floor Storage (relates to inventory replenishing, bar-code/container inspection and CHRIMP reporting requirements.

* Responsible for proper storage of Hazardous Materials on site.

* Must maintain copies of all reports and records for viewing and complying with any corrective action required.

* Perform technical research using available publications, catalogs, and directives.

* Responsible for adhering to all applicable Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention and Tool Control rules and regulations including participation in FOD walk downs when directed.

* Assist EH&S Manager with investigations of work-related injuries/illnesses and prepare reports IAW OSHA and Company policies.

* Comply with established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities, and job assignment.

* Comply with established Hazardous Material/Waste Programs and Local, State, and Federal Environmental Protection Agency regulations.

* Assist EH&S Manager with the safety, security, and preservation of government owned and company owned equipment and property.

* Share technical knowledge with other company employees to enhance accomplishment of assigned tasks.

* Assist the EH&S Manager with the Respirator Protection Program and perform respirator training and fit test to employees needing respirators.

* Attend Company, Base Environmental and or Hazmat, Federal and State meetings/training as required.

* Responsible for conducting fire prevention inspections throughout the facility and filing the inspections for fire department and government review.

* Assist the EH&S Manager in the enforcement of DOD, DON and Company smoking policies.

* Responsible for monthly inspections of portable fire extinguishers to include coordination with NASCCFD for annual inspections, additions/deletions, or replacement of fire extinguishers.

* Responsible for development and update of Emergency Escape Routes at the facility.

* Responsible for submitting Service Requests to the government (NAVFAC) for facility issues requiring routine work, urgent work, or emergency action.

* Responsible for providing regulatory information and pictures regarding deficiencies when submitting Service Requests to the government.

* Responsible for attending Zone, Fire, Safety and Health Inspections.

* Responsible for accessing and utilizing "Read Only" Maximo for tracking status of Trouble Calls and Service Request.

* Responsible for communication with Public Works personnel and providing access to facility locations for Service Requests.

* Responsible for inspection of Automatic External Defibrillator's (AED's) and for inspection of Carbon Monoxide Alarms on site.

* Assist the EH&S Manager with the inspection of the scrap metal staging area to ensure recycling/disposal procedures are being followed and all materials are free of chemicals.

* Coordinate with NAS PW Environmental Dept. for proper disposal/recycling of empty CO2 cartridges.

* Responsible for accessing ESAMS to view facility audit discrepancies and providing corrective action response.

* Responsible for conducting Safety Inspections to identify potential hazards requiring corrective action to ensure safety of personnel.

* Required to handle hazardous materials in performance of assigned duties.

* Maintain the highest ethical personal and professional standards.

* Must become forklift qualified and licensed.

* Perform other projects and initiatives for EH & S, Facilities and Fire Marshall as assigned.

* Will perform other tasking/duties as directed.

* May be temporarily assigned to work at NAS Corpus Christi.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Graduation from a standard four (4) year high school or equivalent (GED) and (2) years of verifiable experience in working in an EH & S program that includes Hazardous Material and Hazardous Waste.

* Must be able to read, speak, write legibly and understand the English language.

* Knowledge of materials used and safety precautions as applicable to usage.

* Familiarization with COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series, and other applicable Navy instructions, maintenance instruction manuals, IPB's, manufacturer's manuals and company instructions as required for the performance of job functions.

* Shall have a minimum of three (3) years practical experience within the last six (6) years working with the administration or operation of a safety and occupational health program or experience in administrative work concerned with safety and occupational health activities, including the development, implementation, and evaluation of related program functions.

* Shall possess knowledge of the principles, standards and techniques of safety and occupational health management and have experience in planning, organizing, directing, operating and evaluating a safety and occupational health program for an entire command and shall have a comprehensive knowledge of safety as it relates to high performance maintenance.

* Must have a valid state operator's license and be able to pass the government licensing requirements

* Must be able to obtain a government Common Access Card (CAC) within six (6) months and maintain the required Security Clearance.

* Must be able to work weekends, other shifts and overtime as required.

* Must adhere to Company policies/procedures and management instruction.

* Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and Company Proprietary data

* Will be required to travel when deemed necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:

* Must possess and maintain an extensive knowledge of complex and technical regulations, including government Hazardous Waste Management Plan, OSHA Regulations (29 CFR Part 1910, General Industry), DOT Hazardous Material Transportation (49 CFR Parts 100-185), EPA (40 CFR) Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and other applicable, State and Federal regulations.

* Will assist the EH&S Manager in developing local policies and procedures to comply with government Hazardous Waste Management Plan, OSHA Regulations (General Industry), DOT Hazardous Material Transportation, EPA Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and other applicable, State and Federal regulations.
