Cornell SC Johnson College of Business:

Leading at the intersection of people, business, and technology, the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business is one of the most comprehensive business schools in the nation and includes many areas of expertise not found in any other leading institution. The college is comprised of the university's three accredited business schools, each of which is recognized as among the best in higher education: the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management, and the School of Hotel Administration. Our academic research; industry and community engagement; and undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs all reflect the future of business: flexible, collaborative, and cross-disciplinary. The college community includes 244 research faculty, 44,000 alumni, and nearly 3,300 undergraduate, professional, and graduate students. The SC Johnson College of Business has an unparalleled resource base from which to draw-within the college, Cornell Tech in New York City, and Cornell University broadly.

Our Team:

The Cornell Executive MBA Metro NY Program provides working professionals with the opportunity to pursue an Ivy League graduate degree by undertaking a rigorous twenty-two-month course of study in business management without interrupting their careers.

Classes are delivered in-person at the Cornell Tech Campus on Roosevelt Island in New York City on alternating weekends, Saturday and half-day Sundays.

Approximately 130-140 students are enrolled in the Executive MBA Metro NY each year. Students begin the program in mid-July with a one-week residential session in Ithaca at the Cornell University campus. A second Ithaca residential session is executed in January each year. Students also complete an international residency week in the second year of the program.

This Position:

While position responsibilities vary, every member of our community is expected to foster a culture of belonging and a psychologically healthy work environment by communicating across differences; being cooperative, collaborative, open, and welcoming; showing respect, compassion, and empathy; engaging and supporting others regardless of background or perspective; speaking up when others are being excluded or treated inappropriately; and supporting work/life integration of oneself and others.

This position is responsible for managing student, faculty, and academic related activities for the Cornell Executive MBA Metro NY Program, as well as supporting general program administration.

Duties involve a range of processes and functions, some of which require collaboration and coordination with other EMBA program staff, staff in other Johnson departments, staff in offices around Cornell, and external vendors. The Program Services Specialist, EMBA Metro NY works closely with faculty and students and serves as the primary point of contact for all academic needs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Faculty Support
  • Academic Materials and Course Management Coordination
  • Student Support, Onboarding and Program Representation
  • Program Administration

As the primary contact for program academics, the Program Services Specialist plays an important role as one of the public faces of the program during class weekends, residential sessions, and Global Study courses. As such, there is required weekend staffing on the Cornell Tech campus and some domestic and international travel. The Program Specialist is also heavily involved in staffing residence weeks (one week in July and one week in January) on the Ithaca campus.

The Program Services Specialist periodically attends special events and activities for current students and/or alumni. Such opportunities help to reinforce the face of the program and provide important opportunities to connect with program participants about the EMBA Metro NY Program.

Under general supervision, and in consultation with the Program Director, EMBA Metro NY Programs as needed, the Program Services Specialist resolves issues and questions and accomplishes tasks independently and efficiently with a high degree of responsiveness. The position requires significant attention to detail, the ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously with a high degree of efficiency, an ability to manage unforeseen changes and requests, and the ability to maintain a calm, composed, and professional demeanor during high intensity periods.

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently, multi-task, and meet deadlines is needed.
