GENERAL SUMMARY: Responsible for providing care to vascular surgery patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting, including pre-operative consultations, first-assisting in the operating room and post-operative management, under physician supervision and within established standards and practices. PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values. 2. *Performs all duties within the scope of practice for the perioperative patient including first-assisting in surgery, assisting in endovascular procedures as needed, inpatient management (patient consults, ICU/progressive care/general care rounds; ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic testing, writing orders, facilitating patient discharges), and outpatient management (conducting outpatient clinic visits and follow-up as directed by physician) both locally and in outstate clinic locations. 3. *Coordinates ongoing overall patient care with physician staff, nursing staff and other ancillary care providers to ensure treatment plans are implemented. 4. *Assists with surgical emergencies. 5. *Shares on-call responsibilities equally with Vascular APP team. 6. *Assists or performs bedside procedures within the scope of practice agreement under the direction of physician. 7. *Administers medications and injections in compliance with state law and clinic guidelines. 8. *Plans and participates in educational programs for patients, families, medical students and hospital staff as needed. Provides workshops, seminars and presentations to other professionals. 9. *Appropriately documents patient care in the electronic medical record. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master of Science degree in Nursing with current Advance Practice Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska required. Certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner or other related specialty area required. Certification with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for prescriptive authority required. A minimum of one (1) year advanced practice experience preferred. OR Master of Science in Physician Assistant required. Current Physician Assistant licensure from the State of Nebraska required. Certification through AAPA required. Certification with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for prescriptive authority required. A minimum of one (1) year advanced practice experience preferred. OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS: Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network. Advanced Life Support (ACLS) is required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.) Characterized as medium work requiring exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects including the human body. Ability to assist 100+ pound patients to exam tables and push wheelchair bound patients. Exposure to blood, waste, body fluids, and communicable diseases. |
