The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Job Description

About the Role:

The purpose of this position is to aid the facility management team in ensuring the successful completion of internal customer and facility needs. The Facilities Specialist is responsible for ensuring an optimal working environment for all WGU staff members by coordinating and providing maintenance services at a given facility as well as promoting safety conditions.

Schedule: Hours may vary slightly depending on business needs, but typically the expected schedule for these roles are as follows:

  • Day/Evening Shift: 2:00pm - 10:00pm MST (M-F)

Main Responsibilities Include:

  • Provides transportation, using company vehicle, for senior leaders.

  • Utilize and ensure adherence to SOP & SLA.

  • Look for ways to improve processes.

  • Support Facilities projects.

  • Work closely with Facilities Supervisor/Manager to maintain high standard of services.

  • Offer additional support for Security, Mailroom and Transportations teams.

  • Works in conjunction with WGU safety team to ensure safety of WGU employees, site guests, and contractors.

  • Assist with call outs and emergency situations as they arise.

  • Demonstrate a strong customer service mindset when interacting with other employees.

  • Inventory and restock facilities related supplies.

  • Support Facilities in the on-boarding and off-boarding of employees.

  • Assist with on campus office or space moves.

  • Tasked with set up and tear-down of onsite meeting/conference rooms. Ensure rooms are presentable, have correct equipment, and standardized furniture.

  • Responds to work requests as assigned by the Facilities Coordinator or Supervisor.

  • Foster an environment of learning, excellence, and innovation within all aspects of teamwork.

  • Able to drive University fleet vehicles as needed.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities You'll Need to be Successful:

  • Customer focused to build relationships with clients.

  • Interpersonal skills to be able to liaise with a wide range of individuals including clients and visitors to manage their expectations in a professional manner.

  • Understand the security needs of the business and the impact it has.

  • Follow priorities for individual workload.

  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn and undertake training.

  • Health and safety training, including first aid training.

  • Quality driven attitude, attention to details is a must.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Good/safe driving record and strong knowledge of navigating the Wasatch Front's roads, highways, addresses, and traffic patterns.

  • Requires basic knowledge of standards and processes within a narrow scope of work.

  • Prior experience in a customer service role.

  • Ability to work the Day/Evening Shift: 2:00pm - 10:00pm MST (M-F)

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to spend periods of time standing or walking.

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Position & Application Details

Full-Time Regular Positions (classified as regular and working 40 standard weekly hours): This is a full-time, regular position (classified for 40 standard weekly hours) that is eligible for bonuses; medical, dental, vision, telehealth and mental healthcare; health savings account and flexible spending account; basic and voluntary life insurance; disability coverage; accident, critical illness and hospital indemnity supplemental coverages; legal and identity theft coverage; retirement savings plan; wellbeing program; discounted WGU tuition; and flexible paid time off for rest and relaxation with no need for accrual, flexible paid sick time with no need for accrual, 11 paid holidays, and other paid leaves, including up to 12 weeks of parental leave.
