Job Summary:



As an important member of our research team, the Professional Research Assistant (PRA) will support the laboratory of Dr. Julio Aguado at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO. Our research focuses on the biology of brain aging, and how cellular senescence stimulated by neurotropic viruses and other environmental triggers can accelerate age-related degenerative phenotypes of the central nervous system.

This PRA position is ideal for candidates looking to enhance their laboratory experience, build their publication record, and prepare for admission to prestigious graduate schools.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Conducts experiments and analyses supporting a variety of research projects.
  • Collaborates with the principal investigator and other research group members to review scientific literature and develop experimental protocols.
  • Assists with writing sections of research proposal documents for grants purposes, documents lab results and assists with the preparation of manuscripts, such as preparing graphs and charts, for publication in scientific journals.
  • Generation and maintenance of human brain organoids and assembloids.
  • Provides general laboratory administration, such as maintaining lab records, general lab clean up, ordering lab supplies, completing requisition forms, processing financial transactions, and filing.



Work Location:



Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.



  • A bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering or a closely related field.
  • Recent laboratory research experience.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • A master's degree in biotechnology, virology, stem cell biology or a closely related field.
  • Industry experience.
  • Previous PRA experience.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Provide general laboratory support, including ordering and maintaining consumables.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date laboratory book records.
  • Detailed documentation of experiments and results.
  • Experience with biology, molecular biology and/or immunological assays.
  • Knowledge in cell reprograming.
  • Knowledge of stem cell & iPSCs techniques for culture and maintenance.
  • Expertise on iPSC-derived organoid generation and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of CRISPR screening and guide RNA plasmid cloning.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$48,410 to $55,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
