Click for a complete list of Employee Benefits: https://www.hr.uillinois.edu/benefits Description: The Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor from candidates with research programs in the field of Nutrition. This is a nine-month appointment that will begin no later than August 16, 2025. The faculty in the Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition maintain highly productive lines of research that are supported by funding from federal agencies, such as the NIH and the Department of Defense, as well as from industry and private foundations. Department strengths include research in obesity, diabetes, dietary interventions, and health equity. Our faculty collaborate with investigators across the health sciences, as well as with investigators at other institutions in Chicago, nationally, and internationally. The Department houses a metabolic kitchen for the conduction of feeding trials, an award-winning teaching garden, and the Integrative Physiology Laboratory (http://ipl.ahslabs.uic.edu/). Furthermore, the Department/College has outstanding wet lab capabilities, coupled with extensive resources for basic research available within UIC's Research Resource Center (http://rrc.uic.edu/cores/). Additionally, UIC has several community-focused research centers, including the Institute for Health Research (https://www.ihrp.uic.edu), Mile Square, and the Cancer Center (https://cancer.uillinois.edu). The nutrition program at UIC offers degrees at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. Our undergraduate Nutrition Science program includes students on track to become Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN) and other health care practitioners (i.e. medicine, dental, pharmacy). Duties & Responsibilities Develop an independent research program by successfully compete for external funding. Demonstrate a commitment and enthusiasm for teaching, learning, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Contribute to the department's curriculum. Interdepartmental collaborations with kinesiology and nutrition, and interdepartmental collaborations with medicine and public health. Contribute to the department's mission and vision. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Established track record or will have demonstrated the potential for interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches in the field of human nutrition (clinical, community, policy, or basic research). Research should complement or expand departmental strengths in the areas of the treatment and prevention of obesity, and obesity-related diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer, and fatty liver disease. A PhD in human nutrition or a related field. Preferred Qualifications Registered Dietitian (RD) credential is preferred.
