Evanston, IllinoisAdd to Favorite Jobs Email this Job Department: Temp Center Instructors for 2-Week, In-Person, Enrichment Program for Grades 1 & 2 or 3 & 4 in Shanghai and/or Shenzhen, China Summer, one-week, in-person courses offer students the opportunity to engage with like-minded peers on a topic of interest. The program is hosted by ASDAN- China in cooperation with Center for Talent Development to design the academic courses. Although the school sites for 2025 have not been finalized, for summer 2024 the program was held at the Concordia International School - Pudong Campus in Shanghai. Instructors modify and implement challenging and engaging, one-week enrichment courses for students in grades 1 & 2 or 3 & 4. Course content is one to two years above grade level to meet the needs of ASDAN's academically talented student population. Instructors receive support and training but should have experience with and be able to differentiate instruction for high ability students with a range of skill levels and background knowledge. Courses are paced to allow for alternating periods of talking, listening, and hands-on activity, as well as individual work and group work. Up to two bilingual teacher's aides will be provided, depending on class size. Max class size is 20. Instructors will be employed by ASDAN-China for this program. One Additional Substitute/CTD On-site Coordinator Assistant position is also available. Applicants should have a moderate comfort level with the majority, if not all course offerings should they be called on to step-in. Compensation Stipends includes curriculum and course development/modification, teaching responsibilities and student evaluation writing.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree and teaching experience required; master's degree or equivalent preferred. 5 years teaching experience required; 7-10 years teaching experience preferred. Ability to adapt content. General Responsibilities Learn and implement ASDAN policies and procedures and CTD course expectations. s Maintain active supervision at all times. Strengthen or modify instructional activities and components of the course and prepare a syllabus using CTD template. Choose and submit requests to ASDAN staff for appropriate instructional materials for the course. Execute course curriculum with an eye toward individual student progress and achievement. Supervise Teaching Assistant's performance and engagement in the classroom. Utilize student assessment system according to guidelines and provide students with feedback on their work. Communicate with CTD on-site liaison regarding academic needs and ASDAN staff regarding student concerns. Evaluate and assess students' academic performance according to guidelines and course objectives. As per policy, this position requires a criminal background check.
