Position Summary
The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Department at UNC Chapel Hill is seeking a Psychometrist to join our Neuropsychology Group. This employee will administer neuropsychological assessments under the rotating supervision of multiple neuropsychologists, working to ensure the highest standards of assessment and patient care. The Psychometrist will be responsible for overseeing the administration and scoring of a diverse range of neuropsychological assessment tools, contributing results and behavioral observations to diagnostic conclusions and patient treatment plans. Our neuropsychology group is located in the PM&R department but sees an exciting and diverse array of patients from across multiple departments. This includes outpatient adult evaluations related to dementia, epilepsy, movement disorders, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and various other causes of cognitive concerns, along with pediatric patients with a spectrum of neurologic or developmental disorders.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in the therapeutic specialty area to which assigned. Some positions may require additional training, certifications, or licensure in speech pathology, audiology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or other fields.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Strong proficiency in neuropsychological assessment.
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Knowledge of relevant regulations and ethical guidelines in neuropsychological assessment.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Though not mandatory, the preferred candidate will have a master's degree in psychology, neuroscience, or related field. Previous experience in administering neuropsychological assessments with a wide variety of patient populations in medical settings, including both pediatric and adult. Empathy and patience to work with individuals who may have various psychological or neurological conditions. Certification as a psychometrist, such as from the Board of Certified Psychometrists ( BCP), is preferred but not mandatory.
