The Liquidity, Market, and Capital Risk Oversight (LMCRO) team at Capital One is seeking a motivated candidate for a Senior Manager position. LMCRO is a risk management organization responsible for broad oversight of the company's management of capital, liquidity and market risks we are exposed to.

As a Senior Business Manager in LMCRO, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to review and challenge management decisions to manage the risk of the company. Specific responsibilities associated with this role include: helping to define appropriate scenarios under which to project financial conditions; challenging assumptions regarding how our income statements and balance sheets would respond to these conditions; and ensuring our strategic decisions appropriately account for the inherent risks of our business. And you will do it all in a collaborative environment that values your insight, encourages you to take on new responsibility, promotes continuous learning, and rewards innovation.

The successful candidate will have a good blend of strategic and analytical capabilities, communications skills, people management experience, and intellectual curiosity.

General Responsibilities:

  • Perform review and challenge of the design of economic scenarios used in regulatory stress testing (CCAR), other internal stress tests, and credit loss forecasts that inform the Company's quarterly allowance for credit losses

  • Perform review and challenge of internal capital requirements and required rates of return at the Company, line of business, and segment levels and for new transactions and activities

  • Perform review and challenge of funds transfer pricing (FTP) assignments to existing portfolios and activities, and to new transactions and activities

  • Contribute to challenges of other capital, market, and liquidity measurement and management processes as needed

  • Develop an understanding of industry best practices, trends, and supervisory guidance with respect to areas under your responsibility

  • Support problem solving and decision-making by applying, or overseeing application of, quantitative analytical skills

  • Exercise influence up to the VP level through, e.g., expertise-based insights, networking, and responsiveness to stakeholder concerns

  • People leadership: build, develop, mentor, and retain talent; leverage their capabilities, as well as those of business partners; foster innovation, drive critical decisions, hold people accountable, and consistently deliver results

  • Results orientation: achieve high-quality results with your team, independently and on time; prioritize, delegate, drive, and execute

  • Communication skills: prepare/oversee preparation of, and, at times, present, challenge materials and other documentation for senior management and/or other stakeholders

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in any quantitative field (Business, Math, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Science, Engineering)

  • At least 2 years of experience in quantitative analysis

  • At least 2 years of experience in qualitative analysis

  • At least 1 year of experience in people management

  • At least 1 year of experience in project management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Business or quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Physical Sciences, Math, Statistics, Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience in quantitative analysis

  • 5+ years of experience in qualitative analysis

  • 2+ years of experience in people management

  • 2+ years of experience in product development

  • 2+ years of experience in financial modeling

  • 2+ years of experience in economic forecasting

  • 2+ years of experience in project management

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $199,100 - $227,200 for Sr. Business Manager Illinois (Hybrid On-Site): $185,600 - $211,800 for Sr. Business Manager

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
