Senior Metrologist

Summary / Position Purpose:

National Test Equipment, a TestEquity company, located in Oceanside, CA, sells the highest quality reconditioned test and measurement equipment. In addition, we are an industry leader in quality repair and calibration of new and used test equipment. This position is a senior technical expert and serves as mentor for the work group, responsible for administration of production workflow and training of others. Provides oversight and technical triage for customer repair items and maintains current knowledge of new technologies and products.

Essential Duties, Functions and/or Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of test and measurement equipment
• Develop calibration procedures and methods, according to detailed specifications, blueprints, drawings, and other technical requirements
• Collect, compile, measure, summarize, and record data gathered
• Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and perform corrective action via adjustments, component replacement, correction factors, etc.
• Identify and correct measurement errors, as applicable
• Adapt existing equipment, standards, and techniques to accomplish unique measurements tasks for which they are not principally used
• Perform uncertainty evaluation and analysis for measurement standards and associated measurement processes
• Interact with TE leadership as well as other employees and departments
• Provide support, coaching and training to employees in or around the lab and/or on the team
• Documents work activities within TestEquity's system accurately and efficiently
• Perform accurate equipment evaluations, configurations and upgrade and modification procedures

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience in the electronic troubleshooting and repair industry with 1 additional year in a specialization.
• PMEL or technical degree in electronics, with equivalent knowledge and certification
• Knowledge of instrumentation/diagnostic programming and the ability to modify or create automated test programs would be a plus
• Posses mentoring skills as well as the ability to perform as a technical liaison
• Must be proficient in PC operation and use as it pertains to instrument controllers and automated calibration procedures
• Must be proficient in the products of the work group and an expert in metrology principles and repair techniques
• Must be detail oriented and have the ability to work multiple tasks assigned
• Must have the ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Efficient use of equipment standards

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to move around and through all work areas as needed, may include climbing stairs or ladders
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to regularly sit at the assigned workstation and use keyboards or equivalent type of equipment,access the computer, and use hands to manipulate documents and general paperwork in order to view contents and read documents, reports, files, etc.
• In addition to the above physical requirements, warehouse and field support positions
