Senior Lead Accountant, Account Reconciliations

This position reports to the General Accounting process owner and is responsible in supporting and assisting management of the account reconciliation system. Responsibilities include process standardization, quality improvement, training development, system administration, issues resolution, reporting and project management. This role works closely with the Account Reconciliation Administrator to ensure that the system and processes are aligned with the company's account reconciliation policy.

A Day In The Life:

  • Work daily in Cadency by Trintech, LYB's account reconciliation system.
  • Monitor account reconciliation status Globally of approximately 34,000 accounts and contact users regularly about reconciliation status.
  • Provide accounting reconciliation Training to new users, assist users with account reconciliation issues, and online training.
  • Prepare specific account reconciliation training for departments or groups based on ad hoc requests.
  • Create online training presentation using Articulate that can be loaded into HR's Learning System and schedule these trainings out to users.
  • Run monthly reports from Cadency to provide information on account reconciliations preparation and review.
  • Manage Accenture contractors on preparing reconciliations and executing account reconciliation BOTS.
  • Working closely with Accenture monitor and report reconciliation metrics monthly.
  • Continually run open reconciling items and follow-up on material and aged reconciling items to ensure closure or status updates. This includes performing research in SAP to facilitate the resolution.
  • Manage Quality Assurance Review process and completion on a quarterly basis. This includes preparation and distribution of sample selection to reviewers and following up until completion.
  • Prepare analysis on number of GL accounts, companies in Cadency, and reconciliations by department and regions on a quarterly basis.
  • Prepare and present Quarterly Account Reconciliation Memo to Chief Accounting Officer and Controller.
  • Provide support to Internal and External Auditors for controls testing.
  • Maintain Account Reconciliation SharePoint site.

You Bring this Value:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Typically seven (7) years of relevant accounting/finance experience.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic and deadline driven environment.
  • Previous experience in optimizing or re-deigning existing processes and driving continuous process improvements.
  • Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge of financial systems and software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with Internal Controls and SOX/404.
  • Experience with SAP, One Stream and Trintech preferred.
