Purpose of Position
A preceptor is an experienced nursing professional who helps nursing students learn and apply theoretical knowledge to real-world clinical situations.
This position will support students seeking clinical placements by focusing on preceptor retention initiatives in the School of Nursing. The role will support the Preceptor Management Team with retention support needs associated with accelerated online program growth in the college.

Specifically, this person will be responsible for providing preceptors with academic and clinical expectations that will assist them and their students during the clinical rotations.
Primary Responsibilities
Management of student clinical placement requests with the assistance of the placement specialist.

  • Provide overall support to the Preceptor Management team.
  • Provide scheduling support for preceptors and matching student schedules to forecast preceptors and student requests of placements.
  • Develop outreach lists and tracking/reporting system for preceptor recruitment and retention initiatives to include cold calls, virtual outreach, in-person cultivation attempts.



Manage preceptor orientation and certificate for preceptors' completions with online clinical tracking software, Medatrax.

  • Manage all preceptor benefits including NurseTim, subscriptions, Preceptor of the Year Award, annual CHHS communications, School of Nursing events, etc.
  • Design and create marketing materials for the Preceptor Management Team such as holiday cards, Nurses Week, and holiday retention event/gifts.


Travel, plan, execute, and host preceptor retention-related events on campus and/ or clinical sites as directed by the Director of Clinical Operations.
Assist the Director of Clinical Outreach & Operations in traveling to clinical sites for retention events as well as hosting large events on campus such as sporting events, alumni awards participation, and NKU simulation tours as needed.
Qualifications
We are seeking a candidate with strong oral and written communication skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, willingness to learn university and college software, including Medatrax, and a high level of trustworthiness. The ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously is essential.

This role requires independence, initiative, and a sense of ownership. A bachelor's degree is required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office, databases, and financial systems.
