The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. The AHA has two main offices, located in Washington, D.C. and Chicago. We are currently seeking a Director, AONL Education Partnerships to work for our Chicago office - on a remote basis.

Starting base salary = $135,000- $169,000- $203,000 (commensurate with related experience). The AHA is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and location.

The Director, AONL Education Partnerships is responsible for establishing and maintaining partnerships with health care organizations and nurse leaders to facilitate adoption of AONL leader development programs and to align with the AONL Mission to transform health care through expert and influential leadership. As the liaison between the AONL education team and our members and member organizations, partner with nursing executives and other healthcare leaders to assess organizational needs, identify gaps, create education program bundles to address gaps, and execute short- or long-term contracts and agreements that result in improved the organizations, expand the reach of AONL programs, and achieve financial targets for AONL. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Leadership Development, ensures program partnerships align with the overall strategic plan of AONL and the AHA, to enhance value and engagement of members and prepare the field of nursing leaders for future healthcare delivery.

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to:



  • Direct and oversee partnerships with members and organizations to purchase and provide AONL Leader Development Programs and resources within the member organization as "hosted" cohorts or similar types of modalities.
  • Serve as a liaison with nurse executives and others within member organizations to provide insight and return-on-investment of partner programs with AONL.
  • Partner and conduct assessments in partnership with nurse executives to understand the nursing leadership structure, tenure, gaps, educational levels, development needs, and create program bundles for organizations based on these assessments.
  • Assess all AONL Leader Development programs for development of "hosted" capabilities and/or virtual transformations, as appropriate, to be included in bundled services to organizations.
  • Increase the number of organizations engaged in provider contracts with AONL year over year.
  • Collaborate with organizations and AONL executives to develop research capabilities and data analytics for program participants and outcomes.
