Position Summary The Machine Operator will fabricate and assemble polyethylene pipe (HDPE) to create a variety of customized structures such as; fittings, valves, T's, Y's, elbows, aqua-shields, geothermal vaults, manholes, dual containment units, pumps, gas aeration lines and similar structures that meet customer specifications by performing the following duties: Read and interpret blueprints, product drawings and pic ticket orders to determine the materials, tools and equipment needed to complete work Follow quality control procedures when fabricating and assembling products per customer specifications Maintain accurate records of materials used on "ticket"; locate and pull required materials from inventory Sustain clean work area and equipment; follow safety procedures concerning use of equipment and materials for safe working conditions Operate ISCO's fusion and fast fusion equipment, cranes, and forklifts Utilize a variety of hand tools, saws and cutting equipment Perform other related duties as assigned Base Qualifications and Competencies Education, Training and Experience: High School diploma or GED Knowledge and application of tools used in: welding, fusing, cutting, and measuring Understanding of carpentry and hand tools Read and comprehend safety rules, operations, maintenance, procedure manuals, and blueprints/drawings for fabrication Understand/perform math functions of basic geometry, fractions, percentages and ratios Interpret technical instructions in mathematical and diagram form Proficient use of business email and basic internet usage Required forklift certification and experience Prior fabrication experience and fusion qualification preferred Quality & Quantity: Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; consider ways to improve and promote effectiveness of fabrication operations Audits own work to ensure quality and accuracy; maintain attention to detail Complete work in timely manner; works quickly, and with accuracy Strive to increase productivity Dependability: Follow instructions, respond to management direction Take responsibility for own actions; keeps commitments Commit to long hours of work when necessary Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan Prioritizes and plans work activities to meet deadlines Uses time efficiently Safety and Security: Observes safety and security procedures Reports potentially unsafe conditions Uses equipment and materials properly Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves fabrication problems in a timely manner to ensure on-time delivery of product to customer Anticipates and plans for potential delays in fabrication; develops alternative solutions Teamwork & Professionalism: Balances team and individual responsibilities Gives and welcomes feedback Contributes to building a positive team spirit Puts success of team above own interests; supports everyone's efforts to succeed Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position Accepts responsibility for own actions Physical Demands Occasionally exerting up to 50 pounds of force Regularly exerting 10 pounds of force to move objects Required to stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel Frequent stooping, crouching, reaching, and walking Constant talking, hearing, and seeing with close visual acuity Work Environment When on the job, the machine operator is: Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes/airborne particles Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions; extremes of cold/heat, humid conditions or work in high precarious places The work environment exposes individual to loud noises from moving equipment and machines Qualifications Behaviors Team Player - Works well as a member of a group Innovative - Consistently introduces new ideas and demonstrates original thinking Detail Oriented - Capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done well Skills Variety of Hand Tools Experience (preferred) Read product drawings (preferred) Measuring Skills (preferred) Lift 50 lbs repeatedly (preferred) Forklift Experience (preferred) Fabrication Experience (preferred) Blueprint Reading (preferred) Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities The contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
