GENERAL SUMMARY:

Adjunct Faculty appointments are made for specified courses and for a specified term or terms as needed.

Demonstrates implementation of the mission, vision, goals and values of the College as well as the philosophy of the division in which assigned.

Responsible for development, planning, implementation and evaluation of the theoretical, laboratory, and/or clinical components of assigned courses. Demonstrates the ability to teach in individual, small and large group settings and functions under the direction of the Dean of the program. Participates in ongoing systematic evaluation activities as assigned.

5. *Utilizes instructional methods which promote student development of critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making and life long learning.

6. *Conveys knowledge and principles of the field of study clearly and concisely in the educational setting.

7. *Manages the educational environment to facilitate an optimal learning experience.

8. Participates in formal and informal department ongoing systematic evaluation of the program and College as appropriate.

9. Maintains confidential environment and respects learner and privacy.

10. Maintains currency in field of study and incorporates evolving trends into teaching.

11. Supports College committee decisions and offers input as appropriate in development of educational policies.

12. *Adapts teaching to varied delivery methods including distance-learning options if applicable.

13. *Initiates communication about concerns or problems with appropriate personnelParticipates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.

14. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Theoretical knowledge of field of study for application to educational settings.

2. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.

3. Knowledge of teaching learning principles, teaching strategies and instructional media.

4. Skill in providing education and supporting students from diverse backgrounds.

5. Ability to give and follow written and oral instructions.

6. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups.

7. Ability to plan/organize/assign work for self and others.

8. Ability to evaluate student attainment of objectives.

9. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

10. Ability to perform crucial conversations with desired outcomes.

11. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff.

12. Ability to problem solve and engage independent critical thinking skills.

13. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.

14. Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision.

15. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Basic Nursing Assistant Instructor: Current Registered Nurse license from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act. Must provide evidence of certification or instruction for practice area as required by State or Federal standards/regulations. Minimum of two (2) years nursing experience required. Documentation of completion of a course in teaching adults or experience in teaching adults or supervising Nurse Aides required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

(Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.)
