JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Mathematics, in the Eberly College of Science, seeks to hire several part-time undergraduate Teaching assistants for Math 140B (Calculus with Applications to Biology) during the Spring 2025 semester to serve as peer Learning assistants and to assist with student outreach and support.

This position includes the following duties:
  • serve as a peer learning assistant during class times
  • participate in weekly meetings with the instructional team
  • track attendance and assist the instructional team in encouraging student attendance and participation through direct outreach
  • assisting students in identifying and making use of course resources and available support
The ideal candidate will have experience serving as a learning assistant (LA) in a mathematics course, experience as a student or LA in a course using a specifications or standards-based grading system, strong communication skills and an interest in supporting student learning and success.
