The Standardized Patient Educator in Clinical Skill Simulation is responsible for developing and implementing educational programs aimed at enhancing clinical skills through realistic patient interactions. This role involves working closely with healthcare professionals and students to create effective learning experiences that prepare them for real-world clinical settings. Key responsibilities include educating standardized patients in core competencies for participation in human simulation activities, ensuring accurate case portrayal, and facilitating formative assessments. The educator also supports the teaching, assessment, and evaluation of the curriculum by maintaining curriculum fidelity through case development, management, and quality assurance. Additionally, this position involves updating data management applications and operating data management systems to ensure effective tracking and reporting of educational outcomes.Manager - 3-5 sentence statement generally describing the position (not bullet points). Please summarize job duties, scope at a high level.Essential FunctionsInteracts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.Supervises and educates standardized patients, maintains teaching materials and protocols, and develops innovative teaching approaches that align with best practices.Designs and delivers simulation-based educational materials and programs focused on clinical skills, patient interaction, and communication techniques, while facilitating individual and group simulation sessions.Plans and administers human simulation events for medical, nursing, and other health professions schools, ensuring each event meets specific objectives and scope.Assesses learners performance during simulations, offers constructive feedback to enhance clinical competencies, and collaborates with faculty and healthcare teams to identify educational needs based on curriculum requirements.Manages a comprehensive database of cases, including case development, modifications, and ensures confidentiality while maintaining the reliability and validity of cases and checklist items for skill assessments.Trains and mentors new standardized patients and staff involved in simulation activities to ensure consistency and quality in educational delivery.Evaluates the effectiveness of simulation programs and makes recommendations for improvements based on learner feedback and outcomes, while maintaining accurate records of sessions, participant progress, and program evaluations for quality assurance.Advocates for the importance of simulation in clinical education and promotes a culture of continuous learning and improvement through participation in research and development activities.Education:Bachelors degree in a healthcare, education related field. Masters degree preferredANDExperience:Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Standardized Patient Educator, job specializing in adult education, human simulationist or certified/registered health professional
