Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Support Specialist for
NJMS- Office of Primary Care, Diversity and Community Engagement. The primary purpose of the Program Support Specialist is to serve as the central administrative support for the winter and summer
SMART program, the Summer Youth Scholars Program (
SYSP) and the Summer Health Professions Education Program (
SHPEP) in addition to providing administrative support to the Office for Primary Care, Diversity and Community Initiatives (
OPCDCE). Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of all systems/programs for compiling, analyzing and presenting quantitative and qualitative data in various formats to support the programs.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Is responsible for the selection process for the SHPEP program participants, including downloading and screening applications, accepting applicants, distributing program information and follow-up calls in collaboration with the co- investigators (Medicine, Dental, Pharmacy and Nursing).
- Works closely with the teaching assistants, and instructors to support the health professions pathway programs, ensuring that applications are prepared for review, and curriculum, schedules, and reports are completed in a timely manner.
- Coordinates the SMART program initiative including the recruitment, selection process for the SMART program participants, downloading and screening applications, notification of acceptance, distributing program information and follow-up calls.
- Coordinates the SYSP program, which includes curriculum design, recruitment of students, supervision of the instructors and teaching assistants, monitoring and maintaining the SYSP student database, and follow-up with students regarding their SAT scores.

Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's Degree with at least three (3) years of progressively more responsible administrative experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Experience with counseling students who experience academic, personal and/or interpersonal challenges to meet their diverse learning needs.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills; written, verbal and intuitive required.
- Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and statistical software required.
- Ability to work effectively with youth and adults, experience working in diverse settings, must be creative, resourceful and proactive, with the ability to manage projects simultaneously. Must be highly organized, detail oriented, with excellent time management skills.
