Biologist - Southeast Region

Westervelt
Ecological Services (WES) creates mitigation and conservation banks and
provides environmental mitigation and habitat planning services to landowners,
businesses, government agencies, and land trusts. Our established industry
leaders excel in the field of wetland and endangered species mitigation
services, to create a nationwide habitat mitigation company.

We are looking for an experienced Biologist - Southeast Region to join our team in our Auburn office.

The purpose of the biologist position is to
provide technical support in the fields of biology, habitat restoration, land
stewardship, and biological monitoring.
The Biologist will be responsible for collecting, organizing,
analyzing and reporting data in technical documentation in support of
Westervelt Ecological Services' projects and will assist in the stewardship
of all WES properties within the Southeast Region and prepare management and
monitoring reports.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

- Conduct biological monitoring (quantitative and qualitative) and reporting for WES projects.
- Conduct land stewardship activities.
- Conduct biological studies in support of WES projects.
- With the Land Stewardship Manager/District Manager, provide substantive and detailed biological input to the Southeast Region Director for the preparation of mitigation and conservation banking documents.
- Provide input to the Land Stewardship Manager/District Manager to ensure that biological considerations are factored into restoration plans.
- Review potential project sites with other team members to provide insight on biological and land management opportunities or constraints.
- Assist, where appropriate, in the development of biological monitoring or research projects.
- Assist, where appropriate, in the development of technical specifications, management plans, or other project specific plans and documents.
- Supervise outside consultants preparing specialized biological resource related documentation.
- Supervise outside consultants and contractors for planning and implementation of land stewardship activities.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Botany, Wildlife Science, Forestry, Environmental Science or related field
  • 5 to 7 years of experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change
  • Land management experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Biological monitoring experience, specifically with woody and herbaceous vegetation
  • Local state driver's license with clean driving record
  • Direct practical field based biological experience including species specific field surveys, wetland delineation and habitat mapping
  • Ability to work independently in the field setting, often in remote locations
  • Ability to communicate technical details clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats


The base salary range for this position is $70,800
- $106,200. Actual base salary is based on the experience
and qualifications of the selected candidate.
