The Carruth Center for Counseling and Psychological Services at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Temporary Independent Counselor/Clinical Supervisor.

About the Opportunity:

This position will provide 20-30 clinical hours to students (triages, urgent/crisis clinic, crises intervention, and counseling) and additional after hours crises and potential clinical supervision.

What you'll Do:

Clinical Outreach Duties:



  • Case Supervision with trainees and unlicensed staff regarding at risk clinical presentations or ongoing clients.
  • Reviews videotapes and documentation of supervisee's clinical work and provided related feedback and evaluation.
  • Multiculturally-sensitive brief counseling and psychotherapy (in person and virtually) for individuals with diverse presenting concerns. Completes required documentation.
  • Clinical services including but not limited to assessment, treatment planning, short-term counseling, crisis intervention services (back-up participation in UCC), psychoeducation, and case management.
  • In the event of a campus psychological emergency, participates in the crises support interventions.
  • Administers and documents risk assessments and risk reduction interventions. Provides related consultation to unlicensed staff.
  • Case Management for WVU students who require longer term or specialized care.
  • Consultation and outreach to clients and their families, WVU faculty/staff, and the university community.
  • Work occurs in the office or on the campus.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling or psychology or PhD in Psychology or a related field.


Experience:



  • Experience providing outpatient clinical services in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Ability to navigate and to collaborate with university and healthcare systems.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:



  • Demonstrated commitment to cultural humility and affirmative care for all students.
  • Experience providing short-term counseling and clinical supervision.
  • Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to proficiently conduct, document and evaluate clinical supervision and multiculturally-sensitive intake / triage / crisis assessment, individual, and consultation/outreach across a range of mental health concerns.
  • Ability to utilize an electronic health record system.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with a team.
  • Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to proficiently provide care management and to actively identify and decrease barriers to care.
  • Practical and ethical knowledge regarding the provision of telehealth services.

Requirements

  • Independently licensed (LICSW/CPC/Psychologist) within the State of West Virginia.
