What you'll be doing...
As an Outside Plant Engineer, you will manage a variety of internal and external partners and vendors to oversee OSP/ISP construction and maintenance of network extension projects to deliver fiber to new and existing customers. Your vital role will ensure that these multi-stakeholder, complex projects are delivered on time, to specifications, and within budget. You will be managing all engineering and construction activities of assigned projects associated with expanding and maintaining the OSP network infrastructure.
  • Leading engineering efforts on multiple projects, driving productivity through use of vendor resources to meet deliverables.
  • Engaging appropriate internal and external organizations and individuals with good written/verbal communications to accomplish required tasks with focus on quality and speed to market.
  • Managing fiber builds and maintaining fiber network documentation via internal tools and procedures (CANVAS, 3GIS, FUZE, etc)
  • Ensuring compliance with engineering guidelines to meet failure domain, diversity, and all other build requirements.
  • Performing field meetings, inspection of construction in progress, and quality control of final product to ensure company requirements are met.
  • Coordinating project activities with contractors, developers, municipalities and consultants.
  • Proposing solutions supported by sound engineering and operational productivity to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.
  • Analyzing implications of changes from the original schedule and taking required corrective actions to ensure the project stays on track.
  • Recognizing vulnerabilities in network infrastructure and making intelligent decisions to ensure reliability within financial constraints.
  • Preparing detailed cost analysis, project specifications, spend forecasts, route mapping, requisitions, and business justifications.
  • Processing reports, vendor invoices, material receipts, and other administrative duties.
  • Communicating project status and progress to team members and customers.
  • Responding immediately to network outages, coordinating necessary resources and activities for prompt and appropriate restoral.
What we're looking for...
You know a lot about outside plant engineering practices. You are computer savvy, always learning new ways to work in tools and enhance procedures to gain efficiency. You enjoy analyzing problems and having the autonomy to select and implement the right solutions. While you work well independently, you are also a great teammate and enjoy leading colleagues and coordinating efforts to ensure the best outcomes. No stranger to a fast-paced environment, you balance multiple assignments and opposing priorities while staying passionate about important deadlines. As a strong communicator, you can quickly build relationships with a diverse range of people and explain complex technical issues in a way that everyone can understand. You're comfortable with negotiation and conflict resolution as needed to ensure you deliver a quality product.You'll need to have:
  • Associate's degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.
  • Valid Driver's license.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical/science/mathematics fields.
  • Experience in CAD, 3GIS, ARCGIS, Google Earth or other mapping and drafting software.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience in corporate data and reporting platforms (Tableau, Cheetah, or others).

If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $72,000.00 and $134,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
