About the Role: Under the direction of the EOHSS Manager, the EOHS Specialist is responsible for driving world class EHS performance at the site, is responsible to oversee the EOHS programs and ensure the Company's compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations, drives improved performance by providing mentoring, coaching and training to all levels. Develops all compliance requirements, attends audits, and develop action plans to cover all requirements. Your Responsibilities:
- Assist with maintaining and implementing standardized EOHS programs that ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and Wabash policies relating to safety and the environment.
- Assist with and maintain all required environmental training, registrations, and permits for the process, equipment, or discharges generated at the facility.
- Provide guidance and support to management of EOHS issues. Work closely with all levels of employees to establish, maintain, and improve EOHS programs and culture.
- Develop a thorough knowledge of the process, equipment, and materials used in the facility, including pollution control devices and other applicable regulated equipment and processes.
- Promptly address and then notify the EOHSS Manager and the appropriate Operations Manager of potential regulatory issues, incidents, or control device malfunctions.
- Aid in the timely preparation of regulatory submittals or required reports to regulatory agencies as requested.
- As necessary; consult, develop, review, and/or implement procedures/SWIs to reduce EOHSS risks.
- Support the SDS program, training, and database by reviewing new SDS request, intermittently auditing existing materials used at the facility, and facilitate the required HAZCOMM training.
- Support a comprehensive and organized recordkeeping system so that the facility can verify compliance with all applicable regulations using both the designated electronic system and hard copy records retention as required.
- Ensure responsible parties are immediately notified of EOHSS concerns and action is immediately taken.
- As appropriate and as assigned, manage vendor compliance in the online contractor management system.
- Attend training, meetings, and seminars to maintain proficiency in EOHS areas.
- Support EOHS related training programs to ensure employee's knowledge and understanding of EOHS risk recognition and reduction activities; regulations; and requirements.
- Performing employee training as designated.
- Support Fire Protection Systems operation, testing, and record keeping. Support implementation of elements of the Wabash Fire Prevention Plan.
- Assist with annual property insurance inspections and record keeping.
- Maintain fall protection equipment inventory.
- Maintain spill response and containment as needed.
- Assist with development and review of Safe Work Instructions and Risk Assessment procedures.
- Drives a proactive safety culture and positive behavior reinforcement system.
- Support utilization of Ideagen (and other EOHSS software systems) for the EOHSS functions.
- Develop, support, and review CapEx Projects for EOHSS and other CapEx categories.
- Occasional purchase of EOHS supplies, materials, PPE, equipment, etc.
- Perform EOHSS audits and inspections to support improvement activities and compliance
- Other duties as assigned
