Description

The Staff Research Associate 2 position requires a scientist with expertise in molecular and cellular biology of the airway. This scientist will do important experiments on increasing our understanding of the lung airways, the cell types and their function to develop new therapies for lung diseases of mucociliary clearance diseases and especially diseases resulting from injury from environmental exposures.

This is a limited position that may convert to career.

Hourly Salary Range: $28.88 - 46.46

Qualifications

Required:


  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard laboratory equipment and supplies.

  • Good communication skills and ability to work well with multiple individuals.

  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized working area.

  • Ability to keep accurate and organized lab records.

  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and to switch focus as needed.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of chemistry to prepare solutions for lab experiments.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory safety procedures for handling chemical and biohazard waste.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques.

  • Working knowledge and ability in the use of computers (PC and MAC operating systems).

  • Skill in using various computer software.

  • Excellent attention to detail, for accurate data entry and analysis.

  • Ability to complete tasks in an orderly and timely fashion.

  • Skill in writing clear and concise correspondence.

  • Willingness to accommodate a flexible work schedule, including occasional overtime to meet deadlines.

  • Working knowledge of IRB protocols.


Preferred:


  • B.S. degree or equivalent in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.

  • Knowledge of IRB protocols and applications.

  • General knowledge of University procedures.

  • Appropriate time management skills.

  • Experience training and supervising staff in a lab setting.
