Belcan has an immediate need for a Remote Linux Systems Engineer who will be responsible for developing, designing and deploying production environments. This position will work directly with the Senior Linux Systems Engineer on critical enterprise infrastructure and work with other Linux Admins or application owners in their roles of day-to-day support. This position will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following items:
Job Responsibilities:
*Take ownership and initiative over assigned tasks and drive them to completion.
*Work with the Infrastructure Administrators, applications and security teams.
*Work within customer requirements and advise customers on best practices.
*Develop, discuss and implement approved change requests in accordance with Change Management processes.
*Expert level knowledge of Ansible and AWX for deployment and automation.
*Perform system troubleshooting and issue remediation.
*Provide support for a variety of core infrastructure systems running Linux.
*Support and maintain critical services such as: Samba, DNS/DHCP, Apache/nginx, NMS, SQL, Backups, SMTP, Web Proxies.
*Monitoring systems; responding to and ensuring resolution of operational issues.
*Maintaining highly available virtual server environments.
*Ownership of the installation, upgrade, and patching processes to ensure proper system operation.
*Provide after-hours support during critical or user impacting outages.
*Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
*A successful candidate will have 5+ years" engineering experience core Linux services, such as: DNS/DHCP/NTP, Postfix, Samba, MySQL, Apache.
*Expert level scripting experience with Python and converting other scripts to Python.
*Expert level in Configuration Management and Configuration Orchestration with Ansible.
*Expert level experience with SSL certificates and Certificate Authority Management.
*Deployment and ownership of system monitoring and reporting tools (Zabbix preferred).
Additional Skills:
*Strong understanding and interest in Linux operating systems such as RedHat, CentOS and Rocky Linux.
*Strong understanding and interest in Virtualization platforms such as VMware and AWS EC2.
*Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and network configuration.
*Understanding of security best practices, including user management, access control, and vulnerability management.
*Outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills.
*Team-oriented and skilled in working within a collaborative environment.
*Ensure timely and effective implementation of approved changes, adhering to Change Management best practices.
*Proven work ethic, tenacity, and focus.
*Attention to detail and accuracy.

Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time and wear a telephone headset. During periods of inactivity, one needs to be proactive in updating scripts and reviewing standards.
Qualifications: High School diploma required, ITIL Foundations Certification Desired, Vocational/Technical/Business School (6-8 Months specialized training), or equivalent. 5+ years in technical support environment and/or customer service.
Additional Information: Full-time position (40 hours, Mon-Fri) with benefits. Due to the nature of our work US Citizenship or Permanent Residence is required. Must be eligible to receive a US Government security clearance.
We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary range of $100,000 to $115,000 annually. Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
