Opportunity

PeopleTec is currently seeking a Systems Engineer - Autonomy/AI/ML Integration for Unmanned Systems to support our Huntsville, AL location.

The systems engineering candidate will be a member of a team supporting systems architecture and integration of software intensive solutions onto various uncrewed and crewed aviation platforms. The candidate will engage with technology, vehicle platform, and payload providers from various Government agencies and industry. The candidate will support integration at a system of systems, platform, system, and subsystem level. The position requires knowledge of systems and/or software architecture, systems modelling, software design, software/hardware integration, and software testing. Familiarity with embedded computing, avionic busses, computer networking, uncrewed vehicle systems, data distribution, AI/autonomy, and edge computing desired. The ideal candidate will have proven skills in integration and test of complex software intensive computing systems both applicable to laboratory and flight test environments.

Duties:

    Review, analysis, develop models in SysML, UML, and other modeling languages.
  • Guide/contribute to systems, hardware, and software integration activities.
  • Provide guidance for the teams DevSecOps environment.
  • Aid in the development of test and demonstration plans and procedures. Provide onsite engineering support during laboratory and flight tests.
  • Review software and systems development and test artifacts.
  • Maintain individual and team knowledge of software architecture, computer networking, avionics, communications systems, uncrewed system payloads, open systems, autonomy, and interoperability standards.


Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • At least 5 years of related work experience in systems and software integration which includes design, implementation, and test.
  • At least 2 years of recent experience in vehicle and sensor systems integration, ideally exposure to vehicle mission computing, avionics, and/or sensor payloads.
  • Experience in Model-Based Engineering including at minimum MBSE. Exposure to UML or SysML languages.
  • Understanding of IP networking.
  • Knowledge of software architecture and design practice.
  • Experience developing software.
  • Track record of prioritizing and executing tasks.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. Exposure to the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to work effectively within geographically dispersed multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to travel (up to 20%)
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment.

Education Requirements:

  • BS in engineering or computer science.

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with development within Linux operating systems.
  • Unmanned aircraft systems integration experience, with autonomy, or robotics integration experience.
  • Exposure to vehicle mission computing, avionics, and/or sensor payloads.
  • Experience with open systems and/or software standards.
  • Experience developing with software languages such as C++, Python, C#, and Java.
  • Familiarity with edge and embedded computing environments.
  • Experience developing software for a RTOS, understanding of time and space partitioning as defined in ARINC 653.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and/or airworthiness.
  • Experience modeling within MBSE modelling tool suites.
  • Exposure to DevSecOps with knowledge of common tools and platforms.
