The Comparative Pathology amp; Digital Imaging Shared Resource of the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a scientific-minded individual with a preference for applicants with histology experience. The Clinical Lab Services Tech will be an essential member of a customer service-oriented team, executing activities in the histology section of the CPDISR with specific emphasis on immunostaining for clinical diagnoses of veterinary patients and research incorporating animal models and human research samples. This position will lead the development of new immunohistochemical/-fluorescent protocols utilizing antibodies to detect proteins (antigens) in cells within a tissue section to visualize specific cellular components within their proper histological context. The candidate will also perform immunohistochemical/-fluorescence staining according to optimized protocols. The position requires sharp focus vision, color vision, attention to detail, and finger dexterity. The day-to-day tasks may involve repetitive movements and risks or discomforts that require specific safety precautions, such as exposure to shared instruments and irritant chemicals. Personal Protective Equipment is provided by CPDISR and its appropriate use is required in the histology laboratory. This position may include lifting/pushing/pulling over 50 lbs, bending and/or reaching for long periods of time, and potential exposure to zoonotic illness.
