Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Optical System Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physics, with a focus on optical systems, and possess practical experience in optical and mechanical tolerance analysis. This role requires expertise in microscopy imaging using off-the-shelf (OTS) components, as well as absorption and fluorescent measurement using photometric methods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and optimize optical systems for various applications.
  • Conduct optical and mechanical tolerance analysis, including tolerance stack-up, simulations, and sensitivity analysis, to ensure system performance and reliability.
  • Integrate and test microscopy imaging systems using OTS components.
  • Perform absorption and fluorescent measurements using photometric methods.
  • Utilize optical and mechanical software tools for system design and analysis.
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot optical systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and specifications.
  • Work with third-party design houses and machine shops to design, fabricate, and test components and systems.
  • Document design processes, test results, and technical reports.



Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD in Physics, Optical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in optical system design and analysis.
  • Proficiency in optical and mechanical tolerance analysis methodologies, including tolerance stack-up, simulations, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Apply knowledge and practice experience of imaging optics design, interference, and distortion to improve system performance.
  • Experience in optical system evaluation and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge and experience of image processing techniques and tools such as Python, Matlab
  • Familiarity with optical design software (e.g., Zemax) and mechanical design software (e.g., CAD tools).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts clearly.
