Job Overview

Macy's Customer & Digital Strategy, Insights & Analytics function is responsible for:



  1. Developing the long-term strategy for Customer & Digital and align priorities with the overall Enterprise Strategy.
  2. Working with partners across the Customer & Digital organization to develop and implement core strategic/ transformation initiatives.
  3. Shaping the new Analytics & Insights function, defining KPIs and core analyses to monitor performance on macys.com, and running site analytics on an ongoing basis to extract insights and work with cross-functional partners to improve the business.
  4. Coordinating cross-functional activities across the Enterprise (with Merchandising and Marketing being the primary partners).


Reporting to the Chief Digital Officer, the Senior Specialist will drive strategy development, oversee transformation initiatives, and enhance analytics and insights capabilities while fostering collaboration across teams. This role includes transforming the Analytics & Insights function, performing continuous data analysis to uncover actionable insights, structuring and managing initiatives, resolving challenges, meeting deadlines, tracking progress, and delivering impactful presentations.

The VP, Customer & Digital Strategy, Insights & Analytics will collaborate closely with leaders across the Customer & Digital organization and cross-functional partners, including Finance, Marketing, Merchandising, Supply Chain, and Technology. Additionally, they will lead a team of 10-15 colleagues, providing guidance and driving excellence.

Essential Functions

Key Responsibilities:



  • Establishing Customer & Digital wide strategies for transformation initiatives to grow the business.
  • Determine long-term goals and annual objectives to achieve Customer & Digital goals across enterprise.
  • Partner with senior executives in Customer & Digital and other functions to lead top-priority initiatives.
  • Shape and run the new Analytics & Insights function.
  • Develop metrics, KPIs, and implement tools to monitor macys.com performance on an ongoing basis.
  • Apply structure and analytics to inform solutions to complex business questions.
  • Deliver high-impact presentations that clearly communicate actionable insights through strategic storytelling to influence strategic decisions.
  • Lead and drive cross-functional teams towards clear, efficient, and accountable decision making.
  • Prioritize and escalate issues and action items for senior leaders and drive to decisions.
  • Shape and deliver the Customer & Digital narrative in partnership with Communications, Legal, Human Resources and business operations.
  • Lead the Customer & Digital Strategy, Analytics & Insights team to meaningfully impact the performance of Macy's Digital business.

Qualifications and Competencies



  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10-15 years of relevant work experience in management consulting and retail, ideally in e-commerce.


Physical Requirements



  • This position involves extended periods of sitting and the extensive use of computers and office equipment.
  • May involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
  • Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
