Department Summary

Welcome to DIA Pre-Market Quality (PreMQ). We are dedicated to partnering with development, lifecycle teams, and other functions to revolutionize the way healthcare solutions are delivered. Our mission is to expedite access to cutting-edge product solutions, ensuring they reach patients in need faster and more efficiently through our 4 Chapters and 6 Networks.

Within the PreMQ Product Development Quality Chapter, we ensure consistent and compliant execution of the Design and Development process by partnering with departments such as R&D, Regulatory, Business, Operations, and Post-Market Quality to maintain a holistic view on product quality. We balance speed to market and product safety through the incorporation of strategic aspects from a product quality perspective.

This internship position is located in CARLSBAD- On Site

The Opportunity

Goal: Leading a small project at the interface between Product Development, Design Quality Assurance, Design Transfer and Launch Readiness in order to gain a holistic understanding of the product development lifecycle and the critical interfaces between different functions within the in vitro diagnostics (IVD) industry.

  • Establish a problem statement and gain clarity on the scope of the project

  • Define objectives that support the solution of the problem statement and which outputs will be generated

  • Create a stakeholder map to identify who you need to involve in your project

  • Hold a sounding board to get feedback on the proposed solution and the output

  • Present your project, how you approached it and its output and outcome to the relevant stakeholders (e.g. Leadership Teams)

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 2-4 months, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June (Summer)

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are(Required)

Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:

- Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).

- Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree (not currently enrolled in a graduate program).

- Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).

- Must have attained a Master's Degree.

Required Majors:

- Major in a scientific or engineering discipline (e.g. Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry)

Required Skills:

  • Managing Complexity - Ability to break down complex problems into manageable parts and maintain an organized approach to solve them

  • Learning Agility - Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools, technologies, and processes.

  • Proactive way of working - Taking initiative to address potential problems before they escalate.

  • Strong Teamwork abilities - Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $22-$35hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position al-so qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
