Group Lead, 3D Visualization

We are looking for a talented Group Lead of 3D Visualization to join our organization. This position can be based out of any of our U.S. office locations in MA, NJ, MD, NC, or KS.

In this role, you will manage the utilization, growth, and development of professionals in the IPS 3D Visualization Group while reporting to the Director of Architecture. In addition to day-to-day oversight, you will develop a strategic roadmap for building a best-in-class, in-house 3D visualization service, minimizing reliance on external consultants, and ensuring sustainable long-term growth.

Additional Responsibilities

• Ensure consistent, high-quality deliverables by defining and enforcing clear quality control and assurance procedures, over all U.S. office and project activities where 3D Viz A/E design services are required.
• Support business development with technical input, proposal generation, staff career development, workplan hour estimates, and strategic planning for the department's growth.
• Identify and evaluate emerging technologies that can enhance project quality, efficiency, and creativity.
• Create a variety of high-quality, realistic exterior and interior architectural renderings, animations, and fly-bys that meet project requirements.
• Work independently and with project teams to create representations of design sketches or developed projects.
• Oversee and mentor junior designers, ensuring proper delegation of tasks, regular feedback loops, and professional development aligned with the department's strategic growth plan.
• Define an appropriate cost-effective workflow process and level of design detail to achieve project goals.
• Plan and schedule work for the department, ensuring the proper and effective distribution of assignments and manpower.
• Evaluate and initiate necessary training of the 3D Visualization Group staff.
• In addition to developing a formal QC review process, help develop policies, technical standards, and procedures.
• Identify future leaders within the team who can support the expansion of IPS's 3D Viz services.
• Communicate all planned business development activities and secure approvals.
• Perform special projects as assigned or as recommended, ensuring each initiative is leveraged to further the long-term vision of IPS's 3D Viz services.
  • This may include, but not limited to, attending approved IPS-sponsored business development and/or marketing events.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture (B.Arch./M.Arch.) or a related design field (e.g., Interior Design, Graphic/Digital Design, Animation, Industrial Design) is preferred but not required with significant, relevant professional experience.
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in 3D visualization or architectural design within an architectural firm (or similar professional setting).
• Has a strong understanding of building design principles and project workflows.
• 3+ years in a supervisory or management capacity with at least one direct report.
• Has demonstrated team-building and leadership experience.
• 5+ years of project experience with Lumion, Revit, and Photoshop (or comparable 3D visualization software).
• Demonstrated success or strong interest in leading and/or developing a 3D visualization team, with the ability to translate company vision into tangible departmental goals.
• Experience translating architect's sketches and CAD/Revit documents into realized 3D models and images.
• Progressive ability, capacity, and aptitude in administration to plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate technical work and to obtain cooperation from design disciplines.
• Has sufficient technical proficiency in the various facets of 3D Design technologies and workflows to understand project requirements and apply the appropriate resources and execution approach for successful projects.
• Is able to build rapport with Design Department staff and align them toward strategic objectives, whether for the project, team improvement, or company.
• Is able to present design ideas and company vision to audiences.
