About the role:

The corporate Operations Performance & Planning organization exists to support and coordinate the company's efforts to continually improve operational performance, advance sustainably, reduce complexity, and drive results. This role will sit within the Operational Risk Management (ORM) department,, which is part of the Operations Performance & Planning organization. The role of Senior Risk Analyst is critical to the success of Alcoa's long-term risk management maturity journey and will be responsible for the advancement in risk analytics and the integration of risk information into risk-based decision-making processes.

As part of a small and focused team, this role will lead the modernization, implementation, and oversight of risk data modelling, risk exposure trending, and business performance reporting for the global operational risk program to help Alcoa predict problems before they occur.

We are looking for an experienced risk management professional that has the passion and demonstrated ability to fully integrate risk information into day-to-day business processes. To do so, this role will collaborate closely with stakeholders of all levels across a multitude of internal stakeholder groups ranging from Operations, Sustainability, Commercial, Finance, and Legal. This includes active operational locations, corporate CoEs, non-operational locations, and joint venture partners throughout the world.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Data Analytics: Manage and oversee the creation, quality, and reliability of risk data modelling and analysis. Leverage modern technology like AI/machine learning to enable rapid advancement in risk analytics.
  • Analytical Support: Support internal and external stakeholders with expert risk analytics and information management needs.
  • Data Systems Expert: Serve as SME contact for all system and technical tools used to document and process risk information.
  • Risk Performance Metrics: Design leading and lagging risk performance metrics that provide comprehensive insight into operational risk performance. Oversee the production, quality, and reliability of all risk reporting tools.
  • Risk Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyze risk performance trends to identify inconsistencies, opportunities for improvement/standardization, and best practices.
  • Business Performance Analysis: Monitor business performance information from incidents, audits, inspections, budgets, etc. to help translate historical data into high quality risk assessment inputs.
  • Assurance: Support risk assurance activities by conducting analytical deep dives into small and large sets of risk information.
  • Data Integration: Integrate the risk information into the short/long-term planning processes, geospatial technology, tools, and systems used across the company to help inject risk information into decision-making.
  • Process Improvement: Analyze and develop innovative solutions to improve the various risk management standards, processes, and tools used across the company and collaborate with peers and leaders to gain their support.
  • Industry: Keep up to date on risk management innovations, industry practices, and industry events/incidents.

What you can bring to this role:

  • 5-10 years of demonstrated ability in operational risk management in an industry that is based on the operation of physical assets. Can be related to asset management, EHS, ESG, supply chain, regulatory compliance, cyber/ICS, or other relevant business area that supports the achievement of operational goals.
  • Advanced data analytics and modelling capabilities as both a designer/developer and user. Experience deploying AI/machine learning in an operational risk management context is a plus.
  • Competence in navigating, supporting, administering, and extracting information out of complex data systems that serve as risk registries.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to build relationships with key stakeholder groups and challenge the status quo in a value-based approach.
  • Strong ability to work autonomously and navigate ambiguity and unknowns.
  • Self-starter and motivated by a natural sense of curiosity and problem solving.
  • Fully proficient in the English language, verbal and written. Fluency in French, Spanish, Norwegian, or Icelandic a plus.
  • Availability to travel 1-3 times per year

En tant que membre d'une petite equipe concentree, ce role dirigera la modernisation, la mise en uvre et la supervision de la modelisation des donnees de risque, de la tendance de l'exposition aux risques et du reporting de la performance commerciale pour le programme mondial de gestion des risques operationnels afin d'aider Alcoa a prevoir les problemes avant qu'ils ne surviennent.

  • Expert des systemes de donnees : Servir de contact SME pour tous les outils systemes et techniques utilises pour documenter et traiter les informations sur les risques.
  • Metriques de performance des risques : Concevoir des metriques de performance des risques avancees et retardees qui fournissent une vision complete de la performance des risques operationnels. Superviser la production, la qualite et la fiabilite de tous les outils de reporting des risques.
  • Analyse de la performance des risques : Surveiller et analyser les tendances de performance des risques pour identifier les incoherences, les opportunites d'amelioration/standardisation et les meilleures pratiques.
  • Analyse de la performance commerciale : Surveiller les informations de performance commerciale issues des incidents, audits, inspections, budgets, etc. pour aider a traduire les donnees historiques en entrees de haute qualite pour l'evaluation des risques.
  • Assurance : Soutenir les activites d'assurance des risques en realisant des analyses approfondies de petits et grands ensembles d'informations sur les risques.
  • Integration des donnees : Integrer les informations sur les risques dans les processus de planification a court/long terme, la technologie geospatiale, les outils et les systemes utilises a travers l'entreprise pour aider a injecter les informations sur les risques dans la prise de decision.
  • Amelioration des processus : Analyser et developper des solutions innovantes pour ameliorer les diverses normes, processus et outils de gestion des risques utilises a travers l'entreprise et collaborer avec les pairs et les dirigeants pour obtenir leur soutien.
  • Industrie : Se tenir au courant des innovations en gestion des risques, des pratiques de l'industrie et des evenements/incidents de l'industrie.

Ce que vous pouvez apporter a ce role :

  • 5 a 10 ans de capacite demontree en gestion des risques operationnels dans une industrie basee sur l'exploitation d'actifs physiques. Cela peut etre lie a la gestion des actifs, EHS, ESG, chaine d'approvisionnement, conformite reglementaire, cyber/ICS, ou tout autre domaine commercial pertinent qui soutient la realisation des objectifs operationnels.
  • Capacites avancees en analyse et modelisation de donnees en tant que concepteur/developpeur et utilisateur. Une experience dans le deploiement de l'IA/apprentissage automatique dans un contexte de gestion des risques operationnels est un plus.
  • Competence a naviguer, soutenir, administrer et extraire des informations de systemes de donnees complexes servant de registres de risques.
  • Competences interpersonnelles et de collaboration solides pour etablir des relations avec les groupes de parties prenantes cles et remettre en question le statu quo de maniere axee sur la valeur.
  • Forte capacite a travailler de maniere autonome et a naviguer dans l'ambiguite et les inconnues.
  • Autonome et motive par un sens naturel de la curiosite et de la resolution de problemes.
  • Parfaitement competent en anglais, a l'oral et a l'ecrit. La maitrise du francais, de l'espagnol, du norvegien ou de l'islandais est un plus.
  • Disponibilite pour voyager 1 a 3 fois par an.

Base salary: $90,500 - $124,500 USD annually Total rewards packages listed, including base salary and bonus eligibility, applies to US based applicants only. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on a range of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, and competencies in conjunction with multiple components of the Employee Total Rewards Package.
