Inside the Role

Interns will gain knowledge and experience through exciting and real-life learning opportunities. Interns must work in accordance with DTNA's core values of passion, respect, integrity and discipline. Internship positions can be located at various DTNA locations across the US. We are looking for high performing and motivated individuals in various areas within DTNA organizations. DTNA internships begin each summer in May or June.

Interns in this role may have the opportunity to transition into a full-time position subject to manager evaluations and business availability.

Tactical Supplier Quality Engineers (TSQEs) monitor and audit the quality of all parts purchased from an outside source. They work to not only find defects, but also to find the cause of the defect and develop a solution. Tactical Supplier Quality Engineer is the first line of defense for potential supplier quality issues for all product lines (Engine, Axle, Transmissions, Turbo, Machining). Investigates and determines responsibility for quality complaints with respect to suspect purchased components. Initiates supplier containment with respect to defective or suspect purchased components. Ensures disposition of defective material with the supplier. Directly contacts the supplier to coordinate reactive activities. Documents activities related to investigation, disposition and resolution to quality complaints. Coordinates cross functional activities within a manufacturing union environment. Interacts with international co-workers with respect to supplier quality related issues. Participates in in-plant quality improvement activities. Performs special projects as required. Keeps abreast of specifications and industry standards. Provides training to personnel as needed.

Salary placement is determined by your anticipated graduation year and ranges between $21 - $30 per hour.

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Investigates and determines responsibility for quality complaints with respect to suspect purchased components.
  • Initiates supplier containment with respect to defective or suspect purchased components.
  • Ensures disposition of defective material with the supplier
  • Directly contacts the supplier to coordinate reactive activities
  • Documents activities related to investigation, disposition and resolution to quality complaints.
  • Develop tools and processes that improve and optimize validation activities
  • Collaborates with department partnerships to develop products that meet technical/functional specifications as well as manufacturing cost/efficiency requirements
  • Conduct data analysis & root cause studies
  • Customer orientated with the drive to develop customer-focused solutions.
  • Passion for driving positive outcomes for our customers is required.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's/PhD Program from an accredited college/university or have graduated within the last 12 months.
  • Experience with the use of measuring/test equipment (micrometers, calipers, gage pins, tensile testers, and vision systems)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills
  • Creative mindset
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
