Position Title: Core Engine Calibration Engineer, Senior Location: Onsite: Auburn Hills, MI. Pay Range: $49-$50/hr. Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent Engineering degree with a minimum of FIVE (5) years of experience in the development and calibration of gasoline spark ignition engines; or a Master of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with THREE (3) years of experience in the development and calibration of gasoline spark ignition engine. Data acquisition experience collecting and processing data. Strong knowledge of internal combustion engines. Strong expertise and knowledge of engine control strategies and complex optimization strategies. Description: Working knowledge of engine analysis and calibration tools, emissions development, engine technologies and competitive products. Generate optimal base engine calibrations meeting all the program objectives in terms of performance, control stability, lowest fuel consumption whilst minimizing the engine out and tailpipe emissions levels. The setup and control of all engine sensors and actuators for all engine operating conditions under both steady state and transient engine operation is part of the responsibilities. Conduct engine hardware and systems testing and supporting all other teams with their standardized and specialized engine test requests. Carry out responsibilities across all the different propulsion system concepts and will include varying levels of electrification of the driveline. Plan and coordinate day to day activities of an engine and powertrain dynamometer and does include collaboration with technicians and laboratory support engineers. Develop test plans, timelines, and reports generated to communicate the status of the program to the larger development and management teams. Evaluations will occur with new engine hardware and powertrain technologies for future and carry over applications. Analyze and solve complex system problems as they relate to engine performance, fuel consumption, emissions, and base engine calibration development. Manipulate and utilize large and complex sets of engine mapping data.
