Environmental Health and Safety Representative

W-2 Contract- 55 hour to 58 AN Hour
Support company's efforts to maintain compliance with environmental, health and safety (EHS) program expectations and applicable federal, state and local regulations, and company policies and procedures. Support and maintain the site's EHS Management System (ISO 14001 & ISO 45001) program and registrations. This role requires the ability to gather and analyze data, then use it to develop recommendations and educate employees on specific EHS matters.
Qualifications Sought
- Bachelor's degree and/or certification in an EHS related field
- Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification preferred
- 5+ years work experience in similar role.
- Proficient knowledge of relevant laws, policies and procedures including CAA, RCRA, CWA and other related laws and regulations
- RCRA and DOT Training certificates
- Strong communication skills including written, verbal, listening, and customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate with and work well with others in order to manage projects, meetings, etc.
- Strong organizational skills with a high consideration to detail and the ability to work independently as well as in a group environment.
- Must be able to be entrusted with confidential information.
- Familiar working with various office equipment, computers and various programs including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, cloud-based systems, networking, and e-mail programs
- Ability to detect and solve problems effectively
- Ability to work effectively even under pressure
- Expert time management skills
Responsibilities to Anticipate for this role
- Collect, manage and report EHS data for periodic EHS regulatory documents and metrics
- Maintain EHS management system (ISO 14001 & ISO 45001) documents, internal audits, and related processes and program elements
- Support EHS risk assessments related to jobs performed by employees, and develop and recommend risk mitigation strategies
- Perform studies to monitor and assess employees' exposure to health risks, and to measure effectiveness of occupational health programs, policies and procedures
- Taking samples and measurements for Industrial Hygiene purposes and reporting results and recommendations
- Support and assist others (managers, employees, etc.) to complete their safety and compliance responsibilities (audits, follow safety rules, etc.)
- Support EHS compliance inspections and audits, enforce EHS policies and regulations, and ensure corrective actions are monitored and documented
- Support waste management and disposal activities and ensure compliance with applicable RCRA and DOT requirements
- Be familiar with Michigan EGLE and EPA air emission permitting requirements and processes
- Support air emission monitoring and reporting activities and ensure compliance with applicable Michigan EGLE and EPA air permit requirements
- Be familiar with and support SARA Title III reporting requirements
- Be familiar with OSHA Fall Protection requirements and support companies program compliance activities
- Be familiar with Michigan's Industrial Stormwater Management requirements and certifications; Ability to achieve Stormwater Operator certificate
- Complete, document and submit required EHS reports and recordkeeping information as necessary
- Maintain SHC environmental permits
- Maintain current knowledge of environmental, occupational health and safety and material transportation legislation.
- Perform Contractor / Service Provider Safety Briefings (EHSI C-9)
- Support the investigation of incidents including HAZMAT spills/releases, employee injuries and near-miss incidents. Monitor closure of effective corrective / preventive actions, as assigned
- Review SDS for new materials for approval for use within (EHSI I-03)
- Support state and federal agencies such as State Environmental agencies, EPA (MI-EGLE, GLWA), OSHA (MIOSHA), NRC, DOT inspections and information requests
- Support respirator fit tests (EHSI E-03)
- Develop, deliver and support EHS / Safety Talks and campaigns
- Perform other EHS-related duties, as assigned

- Most work is performed in an office environment.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk 25% of the time, stand 25% of the time and sit 50% of the time.
- Must be able to satisfy Military Vehicle Safe Work Requirements criteria including Anthropometric Size Restrictions (ASR) for vehicle entry.
- In the course of on-site work and during facility visits, employee will be working around military vehicles, powered industrial trucks and hazardous chemicals and waste.
- The employee may occasionally be required to lift and or carry up to 25 lbs.
- Employee will use computer, phone, copier and other office equipment in the course of a day.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, touch and use tools, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, twist, lift, reach, push, pull, grasp, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, grasp, talk, hear, and walk during the course of employment.
