HDR is looking for a Summer 2024 Architectural intern candidate to work in San Francisco, CA. The successful candidate will work on a new hospital tower in San Francisco. As an Architectural intern at HDR, you will work with a team of licensed architects and architects in-training, on different project types and with diverse professionals. Our goal will be to engage you in various facets of our work so that you will gain a better understanding of how your coursework is applied in real-world settings and inspire you to engage in a career in architecture work upon graduation. What you will do
- Participate in integrated design and construction process with other disciplines at client site.
- Receive hands-on learning by collaborating with designers, consultants and engineers in a big room setting.
- Work within Revit to produce design documentation.
- Work on a complex design in a large city.
- Help communicate visually in a cross disciplinary way to solve complex problems
Primary Responsibilities
- Offer real-world experience on exciting projects
- Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
- Perform assignments under the direct supervision of an Architect, Project Manager, or other professionals
- Participate in the architectural design process, and develop alternative solutions and presentation graphics used to communicate concepts to client or for agency approval
- Follow through on design development drawings and models, and collaborate with production staff for technical details and completion of construction drawings
- Participate in integrated design process with other disciplines at client site
- Receive hands-on learning by collaborating with designers, consultants, and engineers in a big room setting
- Work within Revit to produce design documentation
- Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
- Proficiency and Knowledge of Revit
- Working knowledge of PDF editing tools such as Bluebeam or Adobe
- Interest or experience in healthcare design
- Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
Required Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program
- Attention to detail
- Must possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
