The Supervisor, Quality Control Completions /Assistant Chief Inspector has inspection and return to service authority over all Repair Station operations that are conducted under 14 CFR Part 145 as well as assists the Chief Inspector with the overall operation of the inspection (Quality Control) department and, as such, has authority in the releasing to service of airframes, engines, appliances, and the component parts.

In addition, the Assistant Chief Inspector assists the Chief Inspector with directing, planning, and laying out the details of inspection standards, methods, and procedures used by the Repair Station in complying with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, manufacturer's specifications, and AS9100 quality standards.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs the duties of the Chief Inspector in the Chief Inspector's absence. This includes final airworthiness determination.

Supervises and directs personnel assigned to the inspection department. Works with and oversees QC Inspectors in the normal course of day-to-day operations, providing guidance, training, and oversight. Review and document work performance of QC inspectors and recommend promotions.

Ascertains that all inspections are properly performed, and all proper inspection records, reports, and forms used.

Determines that all technical data on all articles overhauled or repaired by the Repair Station are appropriate for the work performed and kept current with latest revisions.

Assures that periodic checks are made on all inspection tools and the calibration of precision test equipment and that a current record is maintained.

6.

Determines that no defective, unserviceable, or unairworthy parts are installed in any component or articles. See that rejected and unserviceable parts are handled in such a way as to prevent their reuse as serviceable parts.

7.

Submits FAA Service Difficulty Reports (SDR's) of defects of unairworthy condition in accordance with 14 CFR Part 145.221.

8.

Assures the proper execution and disposition of FAA Form 337, and a return to service statement.

Manages work order review before final closure.

10.

Assists the Chief Inspector in hiring qualified applicants. Also assists in

determining any disciplinary actions that may be required.

11.

Schedules FAA Designated Airworthiness Representatives for any certifications as as required.

12.

Organizes/issues aircraft inspection work packages based upon guidance from the Customer Support Managers to fulfill customer requirements.

13.

Performs consultant duties to the Proposals & Contract Manager, and

Program Management when requested.

Education

High School Diploma.

Associate degree in aviation maintenance technology is recommended.

Experience

Minimum of ten (10) years of aviation experience, helicopter preferred.

5 years in an aviation inspection department.

Competencies & Attributes

Good organizational, leadership, supervisory, decision-making, and computer skills.

License/Certification

Valid FAA Airframe and Power Plant Certificate, Inspection Authorization (IA) rating is a plus.
