Job Description

The Process Engineer/Facility Specialist IV is responsible for daily oversight and technical support to the US Department of Energy, Portsmouth/Paducah Project Office federal staff. Responsibilities include technical support on Process Buildings Deactivation & Decommissioning (D&D) activities, including project oversight, engineering oversight, regulatory compliance, oversight of waste management/packaging/transportation, technical reviews of cost and schedule, project status reports, invoice review and tracking, Process Buildings contractual deliverable document reviews, technical analysis of process building proposals, monthly contractor performance, technical reviews of contract/procurement documents and proposals, reviews sub-contract and consent requests.

Job Requirements



  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in science, engineering, or related field.
  • Ten years' experience in construction engineering, manufacturing, project management, waste management, or facilities operations organizations.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to process large amounts of data quickly and provide a written/oral analysis summary.
  • Thorough understanding of EVMS/Scheduling and how it relates to field work.
  • Knowledge and application of conduct of operations and safe work practices.
  • Experience and education in chemical, nuclear and/or radiological facilities.
  • Ability to conduct functional area assessments and coordinate site level environmental regulatory actions.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings.
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of project planning and scheduling, cost estimating and monitoring, and quality review.
  • Extensive experience in using related knowledge and judgment to plan and accomplish programmatic goals and objectives.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Exhibit a high degree of professionalism in the production of deliverables and in interactions with fellow employees and client personnel.

    Preferred Qualifications



  • PMP Certification
  • DOE Experience
  • Thorough knowledge of waste management (LLW, MLLW, RCRA, CERCLA, PCBs, etc.), packaging and transportation
  • D&D, D&R or S&M project experience
  • Nuclear facility experience
  • Thorough knowledge of the Portsmouth site and operations

Federal Government Clearance:

This position may require the ability to obtain a government clearance. This position may require reviews and test for absence of any illegal drugs along with a background investigation by the Federal government in order to obtain an access authorization prior to employment, and may require subsequent reinvestigations may be required.
