Summary The Operator will safely control various Level I and II machines and equipment involved in production. The Machine Operator is also responsible for the overall quality and efficiency of the machine and its output. Supervisory Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities *Reads and understands drawings *Assigned machines may include one or more of the following: Extrusion Machine/s, CNC 2 axis Welder, Flash Cutting Machine, IR Welder, HF Welder. See Skills Matrix *Produces the required quantity of parts within established specifications and tolerances. *Measures finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications. *Maintains logs and records of units produced including a record of errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces. *Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and maintenance. *Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area and is responsible for the housekeeping of the general area around the machine/s including sweeping the work area and picking up loose items. *Follows standard safety procedures *Performs other related duties as assigned. Preferred Skills/Abilities: *Ability to follow directions and work well in a team. *Ability to act quickly when problem arises. *Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment. *Strong analytical, problem-solving and trouble shooting skills are required *Mechanical aptitude is required *Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable OSHA and environmental regulations. Computer Skills: Education and Experience: *At least one year of related experience preferred *Completion of on-the-job training may be substituted for educational requirements. Physical Requirements: *Must be able to periodically lift up to 50 pounds at a time. *Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced. *Constant standing *Frequently sit, walk reach outward and reach above shoulder *Occasionally climb, squat, kneel or bend *To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily.
