Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Lead Field Engineer to provide technical expertise and leadership in the deployment, maintenance, and support of radar, command and control (C2) systems, and weapon systems. This role requires a hands-on leader capable of mentoring and managing a team of field engineers while ensuring mission-critical system performance in operational environments worldwide.

The Lead Field Engineer will be responsible for overseeing field operations, providing advanced troubleshooting support, and coordinating with stakeholders to optimize system readiness. Candidates must be able to travel on short notice for uncertain durations, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in demanding field conditions. Additionally, this position requires experience in leading teams, training personnel, and managing field deployments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Exhibits advanced wide-ranging experience, using in-depth professional knowledge, acumen, concepts, and company objectives to develop, resolve complex models and procedures.

  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, evaluating, adapting of complex techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots, repairs and debugs complex systems utilizing manuals, schematics, and reach back support for various electro/mechanical issues that may arrive within the system.

  • Performs software installations at site and support data collection events for analysis.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex issues independently or in collaboration with others.

  • Responds to situations where first-line technicians have failed to isolate or fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.

  • Reports design, reliability, and maintenance problems or bugs to design engineering/software engineering.

  • Acts as the main interface with customers while at site.

  • Support other company functional areas such as customer installation and training.

  • Delivers training to customers on operations and maintenance of Saab products.

Compensation Range: $99,100- $128,800

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:
  • BA/ BS degree in an engineering discipline.

  • 8+ years of experience (6+ years if MS degree).

  • OR 12+ years of relevant military experience with radar, command and control (C2) systems, and weapon systems.

  • Must have U.S. DoD SECRET Clearance or have previously held one.

  • Must be capable of lifting and removing/replacing components weighing up to 50 pounds or more.

  • Experience working with radar, command and control (C2) systems, and weapon systems or other complex electrical systems.

  • Exhibits advanced wide-ranging experience, using in-depth professional knowledge, acumen, concepts, and company objectives to develop, resolve complex models and procedures.

  • Provides solutions to issues in creative and effective ways. Understands the interrelationships of different disciplines. Directs the application of existing principles and guides development of new policies and ideas.

  • Understands and works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, evaluating, adapting of complex techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Citizenship Requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
