The Opportunity Adobe is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our Global Payroll team in San Jose, supporting payroll processing for North America Payroll. This role is an excellent opportunity for payroll professionals who are detail-oriented, thrive in fast-paced environments, and are passionate about delivering high-quality payroll services.
What you'll Do
Payroll Processing & Compliance
- Process bi-weekly and ad-hoc payroll with accuracy and efficiency using UKGPro and Workday for HRIS
- Regions include North America: US and Canada
- Collaborate effectively with internal partners and external service vendors to ensure payroll processing adheres to policies and country-specific statutory requirements.
- Process employee and statutory payments, reconcile different scenarios (rejections, refunds, uncashed checks, direct deposit issues, stop payments), and ensure accurate resolution and compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Ensure proper payroll documentation is maintained for each step of the process.
- Support internal and external audits, including SOX controls, by preparing necessary payroll documentation in a timely manner.
Employee Support & Issue Resolution
- Provide excellent customer service by responding to employee payroll inquiries via ServiceNow within SLA timelines.
- Develop and maintain knowledge articles to offer ongoing proactive assistance on payroll-related subjects, empowering employees and collaborators with easily accessible self-service information.
Process Improvement & Reporting
- Continuously find opportunities to improve payroll efficiency through process improvements and automation, while proactively addressing issues and proposing solutions as needed.
- Support the team in driving payroll-related projects and new system implementations.
- Support the development, reporting, and review of metrics to drive performance.
Teamwork and Individual Development:
- Maintain consistent communication with the supervisor/manager, team members, and key partners regarding task or project status, while finding opportunities to enhance service levels or processes. Raise any concerns promptly to ensure the delivery of high-quality service.
- Actively participate in and support departmental initiatives, seeking feedback and embracing opportunities for continuous learning to improve knowledge, skills, and experience. Monitor results to drive effectiveness and efficiency.
- Adhere to company, department, and team standards of professionalism, ensuring behavior aligns with Adobe's values and cultivates a positive work environment.
- Learn the payroll processes of assigned global countries and be ready to process payroll when needed, ensuring continuity and accuracy in the absence of primary personnel.
- Proactively design a self-development plan and work with the manager to track progress through regular check-ins, adjusting the plan as needed and celebrating achievements along the way.
What you need to succeed
Required:
- 3+ years of multi-state payroll experience in a high-volume corporate environment (3,000+ employees).
- Strong understanding of multi-state laws and taxes, and their impact on financial and statutory reporting.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks, meet payroll-related deadlines, and effectively handle high-pressure environments.
- High attention to accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance in handling sensitive payroll data.
- Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a dedicated and determined approach.
- Proven ability to excel in a team-oriented environment, demonstrating strong customer service and collaboration skills. Experienced in navigating conflict and working toward successful resolutions.
- Proficient social skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with team and partners, contributing ideas, finding opportunities, and fostering positive outcomes.
- Skilled at building strong, collaborative relationships with both internal teams and external payroll service providers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis).
Preferred:
- Experience working with UKG Pro, ServiceNow and Workday HR (or similar HRIS and payroll systems).
- Working knowledge of equity transactions in payroll (ESPP, RSU).
- Proficiency in multiple languages is a plus.
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this positionis $74,100 -- $142,200 annually. Paywithin this range varies by work locationand may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills,and experience. At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP). In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
