Mechanical Design Engineer - New Product Development

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our R&D team in developing new medical technologies and products. This role is not a temp-to-hire position and requires extensive cross-functional collaboration within a 10-person R&D team. The engineer will play a key role in mechanical design, rapid prototyping, and translating customer needs into innovative product solutions.


Key Responsibilities

Innovative Product Development - Consistently generate unique solutions to meet market needs, contributing to new technology, processes, and equipment.

Mechanical Design & Development - Design and develop complex assemblies (including injection-molded and machined parts) using SolidWorks.

Prototype & Testing - Hands-on experience with 3D printing and machining for rapid prototyping, iteration, and testing.

Technical Analysis - Compile, analyze, and interpret operational, test, and research data to refine product designs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with Process Development, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, and Marketing teams to ensure project success.

Physician & Customer Interaction - Interface with Physicians/Cath Lab personnel to gather feedback and translate customer needs into design specifications.

Engineering Documentation - Prepare and maintain detailed technical reports, test results, and engineering documentation.

Project Coordination - Manage and document project goals, progress, and necessary revisions.


Required Qualifications

Education:

B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred) - 2-4 years of experience

M.S. in Engineering - 1-2 years of experience

Technical Skills:

Proficient in SolidWorks for component and assembly design

Experience in mechanical design (complex assemblies, injection-molded & machined parts)

Hands-on experience with 3D printing and machining for prototyping

Strong background in prototype development, testing, and iteration

Ability to create detailed mechanical drawings with precise callouts

Soft Skills & Collaboration:

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Experience working in a highly collaborative R&D environment

Ability to work independently while engaging cross-functional teams
