What's the role?
The role of the Testing and Sales Support Engineer involves testing, approval, and support activities related to the Hilti fire protection portfolio, which includes firestop and steel protection. The Testing and Sales Support Engineer is responsible for enhancing existing Hilti product approvals through these activities in a collaborative environment involving leadership and peers. Testing activities are to be coordinated with key internal and external stakeholders. The position is responsible for translating test data into working solutions for stakeholders while protecting the integrity of proprietary information. The position will manage technical documentation to ensure accuracy and effectiveness when published on Hilti digital media and when used with Hilti software solutions that customers use to design, select, and specify Hilti fire protection products. Testing, approval, and support activities are focused on markets that rely on UL and ASTM standards. The position will also consult with internal and external stakeholders on fire protection capabilities.

What does the role involve?
* Partner with 3rd party testing agencies to develop, create and maintain fire protection systems * Monitor, review and develop SWOT analysis for competitive fire protection systems. Educate both corporate and field non-structural personnel on findings and ways to leverage for sales strategy and marketing materials. * Offer insight regarding expanded product opportunities with members of different departments including product development and marketing. * Collaborate with sales, marketing, quality assurance, and development teams to align on strategies and priorities. * Educate Hilti personnel of testing processes and procedures acceptable by state and national building codes (both US and Canada). * Participate in educational and marketing sessions during HNA customer events and internal meetings that take place in Irving, TX. * Drive applications testing to ensure Hilti North America maintains leadership position in tested fire protection offerings for both firestop and steel protection. * Work with HNA fire protection test technicians to ensure accurate execution of test plans in accordance with laboratory procedures. * Ensure testing of fire protection applications focuses primarily on construction in the United States and Canada, with secondary impact to global market organizations (i.e. Middle Eastern and Central American countries) that utilize UL/ASTM standards within local jurisdictions. * Lead the support of fire protection products and/or segments through interactions with key stakeholders and by managing projects. * Mentor and train technical personnel focused on fire protection design and engineering. * Additional duties, as assigned

What you need is:
* B.S. In Engineering * Ability to accommodate a time distribution as follows: - 50% in office / 40% in the laboratory / 10% travel to office, jobsites and testing facilities * Ability to work at construction sites/lab facilities with uneven surfaces, scaffolding, ladders, etc. during all seasons of the year * Support the creation and design of fire protection engineering judgments (EJs) especially for new/complex products * Experience consulting with customers or in customer interactions involving the selection of fire protection solutions * Experience and understanding of ASTM and UL fire protection testing standards * Understanding of IBC and Canadian Building codes and requirements * Exceptional planning, organizing and multi-tasking skills when working independently * Strong interpersonal and written communications skills * Strong mentoring and coaching skills * Demonstrated experience managing complex projects, design of products, or completion complex engineering evaluations * Minimum of three (3) years' experience in the fire protection field in a technical capacity. Other engineering fields will also be considered based on relevance.
