Hydro Aluminium Metal a leading supplier of extrusion ingots, sheet ingots, foundry alloys, wire rods and high-purity aluminum with a global production network of around 5,000 employees. With primary metal production facilities in Europe, Canada, Australia, Brazil and Qatar, and recycling facilities throughout Europe and in the U.S., two-thirds of our primary aluminum production is based on renewable energy.

The HSE Manager at Hydro Aluminum Metals will be to champion our Health, Safety, & Environmental culture. Lead and coordinate safety initiatives and related programs for our plant. Drive communication, planning, implementation, supervision, and measurement in compliance with corporate safety standards and procedures, OSHA and other federal and state regulations.

The HSE Manager serves in a dual role; where the initial objective is to operate in a consultative capacity, by providing expert support, guidance, and motivation to operations management and employees at all levels. In addition, along with management, the HSE Manager at Hydro Aluminum Metals is expected to be a "hands on" partner in delivering various safety initiatives and programs specifically to develop a safety culture supporting the goal and daily mission of Safety is always number one priority. The HSE Manager is responsible for optimizing all HSE activities throughout our site, providing leadership and best practice implementation regarding all HSE activities. The HSE Manager will also support local initiatives and improvements towards Management process, Quality and Performance.

What You'll Do




  • Promote and be a steward of our organizations Safety Culture and Core Values





  • Provide Operations Management with effective safety coaching, counseling and advice, ensuring both deliver a safe and efficient work environment for all employees and customers





  • Collaborate with leaders in ensuring specific safety training is conducted based on scope of work





  • Act as a "safety" motivator for management and employees' alike, ensuring safety remains an active part of the work and the culture at Hydro Aluminum Metals.





  • Provide "safety" subject matter expertise, ensuring the most relevant and effective internal and external safety practices are used and implemented in the course of delivering work at Hydro Aluminum Metals.





  • Standardize and improve HSE processes by developing and supporting implementation of Best Available Practices (BAPs)





  • Contribute to development of QHSE competences in the organization, and support AMBS academy program.





  • Review and conduct Contractor Management to ensure that all follow our Hydro Aluminum Metals Safety Policies and Procedures.





  • Review and conduct mini-gap analyses on current safety policies, procedures and standards and provide recommendations for change to help drive continuous improvement





  • Be first point of contact and remain in a supportive role to the employee when incident occurs.





  • Participate, facilitate and review all Root Cause Analysis done in accordance with the Hydro Incident Investigation Policy and verify corrective actions are being implemented and sustained.





  • Assign and communicate expectations for all aspects of the safety program, so that all project employees have clear expectations for safety and performance.





  • Ensure that any training needed is proactively identified and scheduled.





  • Be a partner in tool box talk topics, they are carefully selected and applicable to the work.





  • Verify that all safety documentation is being captured, organized and filed.





  • Implement Safety systems and processes for new projects.





Who You Are




  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in an Occupational Safety and Health discipline from a four-year college or university; and/or; minimum of 5 Years progressive HSE responsibilities in an industrial manufacturing environment





  • Willing to travel





  • Ability to identify potential safety hazards and recommend corrective actions





  • Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing





  • People-oriented personality and aptitude to "sell" safety programs to all employees





  • Knowledge of current Federal, and OSHA requirements





  • Strong organizational and time management skills





  • Strong written and verbal communication skills





  • Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies and the ability to effectively communicate solutions





  • Strong work ethic - willing to do what it takes to get the job done





  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team





  • Must have a working knowledge of computers and experience in Microsoft Office Suite 2010 (i.e., Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel)

The annual base pay for this role is between $102,000 - $125,000. The actual pay is dependent upon many factors, including: location, work experience, education, training, transferable skills, business needs, and market conditions.
