Job Summary

The postdoctoral researcher will engage in research focused on the mechanics of soft materials and flexible structures, particularly in the areas of active architectured materials and contact mechanics of soft materials for haptics applications.

Essential Functions



  • Modeling and experimentation
  • Collaboration with other research team members
  • Data analysis and scholarly publication writing
  • Presentation of findings at conferences and seminars
  • Other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications



  • PhD or Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or related field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in:

    • Material synthesis
    • Finite element analysis
    • 3D printing
    • Soft robotics design and implementation
    • Mechanical and electrical characterization of materials
    • Wearable and stretchable biosensors

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade K. Compensation for this grade ranges from $54,630 to $81,940 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
