Pinterest is one of the fastest growing online advertising platforms with AI/ML being one of the key drivers of our ads business. The continued success of our business depends on whether we can enable continued ML innovations for our ads products with speed and efficiency. We are looking for a Director of Engineering - Ads ML Infrastructure, to lead this business critical organization to achieve this mission. In this role, not only will you have an opportunity to lead and grow a fast growing engineering organization, but also set technical strategies and guide the cross-functional team to build scalable ML infrastructure solutions that directly impact the topline and bottomline of our business.

What you'll do:



  • Collaborate with product and engineering stakeholders across the organization to architect infrastructure solutions to unlock AI/ML innovations that drive growth of Pinterest ads business.
  • Grow a fast growing engineering organization, setting the technical vision, leading the day-to-day execution, as well as fostering good team health and culture.
  • Modernize the ML ecosystem for the entire Pinterest Ads product offerings to achieve high reliability, scalability, efficiency, and developer velocity.



What we're looking for:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as an engineering manager, with experience managing managers.
  • 10+ years of industry experience in large-scale distributed systems, relational and non-relational datastores, and system programming.
  • Experience in building and owning critical user-facing ML backend systems, enabling AI/ML innovations while solving scaling, reliability, and performance problems in high-volume low-latency distributed systems.
  • Strong cross-functional collaborator and communicator.



In-Office Requirement Statement:



  • We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
  • This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration one day per week and therefore needs to be in a commutable distance from one of the following offices, Palo Alto, San Francisco or Seattle.
