Assistant Professor - Research Faculty in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism

Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty members tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

Job Description
Research Assistant Professor functions as a faculty member in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism; maintains an active research program in cardiac and skeletal muscle signaling/physiology; develops research proposals; participates in collaborative research programs; publishes in scientific literature; instruction of undergraduate, healthcare professional and graduate students; presents at professional meetings.

Minimum Education Required

PhD or equivalent combination of education and experience in Human Health or Nutritional Sciences.

PhD Human Health or Nutritional Sciences

Research focus on cardiometabolic and lipid metabolism

Current, active extramural grant funding (equivalent to NIH R01 K01)

Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and areappointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal careerfocus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research.

Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank)- Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, orprofessor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate(PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary careerfocus centers on research, service, and teaching.Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also beinvolved in clinical care.

Research Faculty (regardless of rank)- Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associateprofessor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate(PhD) or other terminal degree inthe relevant field of study.Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and areappointed for terms ofone to five years. Their principal careerfocus is research.
