Job Description:
The School District of Milton is seeking applicants to teach High School and Northside Intermediate School Choir and Vocal Music courses. This position will have the opportunity to lead a vocal music program with a very strong history as part of an outstanding music department. This individual will be directing two high school choirs and will have some responsibilities for general elementary classes. One of the high school choirs is the Chamber Choir - the audition level choir. The other will be the 30+ voice all female group, (Octave Above). Both high school show choirs (Octave Above and the mixed varsity group, Chorolation) enjoy a strong reputation and winning tradition and annually compete in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, and other locations across the Midwest from January through March. The individual will also assist in maintaining the district's strong solo/ensemble program. Beyond the school day, the music director will have the option to co-direct the annual school musical, in collaboration with the stage director and pit orchestra director, assisting in the vocal preparations and some managerial/logistical tasks associated with the musical. This position begins in August 2025, and offers an exciting opportunity to join our team in shaping the future success of our students. We provide a competitive starting salary of $48,816 (based on the 2024-25 matrix) for a 190-day contract, available to candidates with a Bachelor's degree. Additional compensation is available for those with prior public education teaching experience and further education beyond a bachelor's degree, with adjustments for the 2025-2026 contract year to be determined. Qualifications: The School District of Milton is seeking a passionate teacher who will engage students in the learning process with the ability to develop connections with all students. The individual will have a substantial knowledge of vocal music, as well as music theory. This teacher must possess the leadership and interpersonal skills to direct a show choir program that enjoys substantial parent, community and alumni support. This will include working with a well-developed and supportive booster organization. Candidates should be organized, flexible, and have strong communication skills. The successful candidate will understand the value of working with students both inside and outside of the classroom. Excellent piano and music arranging skills are a plus. Applicants must hold or be eligible for WI DPI Certification in Choral Music - 1511.
